A Good Reveiw,
By Alex Hara (North Bend, WA USA) - See all my reviews

I belive this is a very well made game and should make a lot of money. There are so many maps and tricks to this game that it makes the play length never end. I downloaded the demo and i was playing one map for a total of like 5 hours in about a week and after that i was still finding out new tricks. This game is a must for all the skaters out there and people that just wanna get a good score on a awsome skateboarding game.

Review of Computer Version of Tony Hawk 2,
By
This review is from: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (CD-ROM)
Let me first say that Tony Hawk 1 and 2 are groundbreaking games. After reading the other reviews, it's apparent that others are in agreement. The best update from the original game is the level editor. You can even upload and download levels from the internet now. The ability to "manual" in between grinds is probably the 2nd most relevant update from Tony Hawk 1. It allows the skater to extend their lines (series of tricks), in almost infinite ways. The computer version also offers several levels from Tony Hawk 1; not the best ones though as School 1 is omitted. In comparison with the PlayStation version, the PC Tony Hawk is far superior. I'd say I get twice the frame rate as on the PS version. Also there is much less fogging of the background. Another note is that the PC version offers me a much higher capacity than the PS version to design levels, which is invaluable when implimenting risers and blue moves. Overall- I highly recommend Tony Hawk 2, especially the PC or Dreamcast versions. Also be sure to have a controller/joystick, which is essential.

Super graphics and great game play!,

What a game!! It is just sooooooo good. The level are just so life like and the tricks that you can do are really good and fun to be able to master. It takes a bit of getting used to on the keyboard but if you have a joypad then i can imagine that it would be even better. The graphics are just so superior and great compared to any console. So if you are going to have to choose between the pc version or one on a console then you should go for this. It even loads quicker then them. It is so advanced to the previous in that you can create your own skate park which is a bit of fun but can be hard to do so but who needs to do that when there are so many pre made parks to try out and edit yourself. You can even creat your own skater which is a very good idea, i havent my self but my friend has created the best one! If you complete some of the game then you will get a few of the levels that were on the first one which are also really great to play on, as i have waited for this to come out on the pc as soon as i player the first on one a playstation and fell in love with it! Once you start to play it, you cannot get off it, its so great and loads of secret places on each level to find out and a huge variety of tricks that you can do and then are all easy to master once you get the hang of them. The good thing is that even if you don't want to have a career then you can just have a free skate and go on any level that you have opened and all the pre made ones. I have had this since christmas and you usualy grow out of something when you have had it for a long time but i can't get off it, because i just want to get to the next level and open up the next level and find out many more tricks and stuff. I don't believe that i will say this but you are just like a real skater as you buy your own bored, new tricks and better stats which is really fun, as the more tricks and stats that you have the better you will skate and more things that you can do. I don't want to be classed as a "skater" but this is really good and like that! If you have played or have the first one then you will not be disappointed with this brilliant follow up.

I prefer less hazardous sports than skateboarding (like skydiving for instance) and always laugh when I see some idiot slip off the rail, sans protective gear, and do a faceplant into the concrete. That said, I'll admit this game is addictive enough to give skaters a little respect. I've never played the original Tony Hawk so I can't really compare this version, but it looks like it's a port from the console. No biggie, it still looks and plays great and the system requirements are minimal provided you have a good 3D card. The game is a reflex test, like Mortal Kombat. This is not a simulation, so you'll be doing those pro moves in no time. Timing is key, and the best moves are performed when you have a combination of speed and accrued experience, meaning you were able to execute enough moves without messing up. There are a *ton* of moves available for button mashers. Every board flip, grind, and grab can be performed differently depending on which direction you are pointed and which button you are pressing. Tricks even vary depending on which skater you choose, but not wildly. Objectives can vary from collecting pilots wings in an airplane hanger to hassling the bums on Venice Beach. Speaking of which, the locations are very well done and the music's good too even though the sound quality is a little poor. It is apparent this game would best be played on a gamepad, but you can still get away with using the keyboard. I find myself frequently discovering new moves.. phrases such as "hey, a One-Foot-Smith. That's pretty cool. How did I do that?" will become common. The best feature of the game are the "hidden" areas opened up by exploring and performing tricks. Grind the board off the helicopter blades and it takes off through the roof. Get run over enough times and pretty soon you'll searching for a tomato-throwing maneuver (if you find it, let me know). If you're really good, Spider-Man may drop in for a visit. Fun game and worth the purchase price. Buy it, then get the neighbor kid to show you all the cool moves.

A new addict,

I still hadn't gotten sick of the demo after a month of play (527,000+ score) when I picked up the full version last week. What a blast...this is the kind of game you could spend years trying to master, and there is no limit to the possibilities for play. The graphics are superb, as are the sound effects. The keyboard seems to work well for me, but I might have to go get a good gamepad to see if it's better. That seems to be the consensus. GET IT.

Entertaining skateboard game,
This review is from: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (CD-ROM)
To tell you the truth, I'm not much of a skateboard fan, but I thought I would check this game out none the less. My first thoughts are that the game is actually quite good. The graphics are excellent, especially if you have a system that handles 3d well. The one thing I think could be improved is the perspective you have while you are riding around. Its kind of disorienting when you jump up and spin or do some other trick. It just has a wierd view which takes some getting used to. I also gave this four stars cause I don't think this game will have much re-playability for me. Its fun for awhile, but I'm starting to loose interest. I'm sure skateboard fans will really like this game. My suggestion is to try out the demo first, and if you like it, buy it.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (CD-ROM)
Ever since I first played the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (at a friends house) I have wanted a skateboarding video game. I didn't have a PlayStation, and Activision never came out with a version for PC. So for about a year now I have looked and waited for a skateboarding game for PC. About a month ago I learned that Activision was creating a new skateboarding game called: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, and it was being created for PC. I knew that it would be good based on how fun the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was, but I never thought that it would be this good. The graphics are awsome, and the new options are spectacular. If you like sports games expecially skateboarding and snowboarding games then you have to get this new game!

I was never really a skater but when Tony Hawk's pro skater demo came out I was hooked and I had to get it! Now that THPS2 is out it's even better! much more to collect and see you can even play as Spider-Man! How cool is that! I remember when the THPS2 demo came out for PC I downloaded it and had a blast! It was so cool I got a score of over 945,600 on my 3rd try! I just love this game! and if you have a Network then you and whoever else is there can go Head to Head with each other Believe me it's fun! All's what I can say is that this beats the PSX version buy 10 fold! You should really get a PSX PC pad for this game if so it plays and feel's just like the PSX version just with better Graphics and control.
