Among the best handheld games ever,

Let me start out by saying that this was not my first GBA game. Mario Kart Super Circuit was my first, and after playing it for hours on end, I didn't believe that there could exist a better (or even comperable) GBA game. I was wrong.I had played THPS 2 for GBA on my friend's handheld and thought it was great. The graphics were unbelievable, and the gameplay was exceptional. After 3 came out, I decided to give it a try. Here's how I say the new one ranks compared to the old one. Graphics: Have improved a surprising amount since THPS 2, including the fact that the skater is larger, allowing you to see him easier. Overall, I'd say that although the changes may be subtle in their own respective categories, the total improvement definetely puts THPS 3 higher than 2. I would recommend that you get this game whether you are a skateboarder or not.

One of the best GBA games on the market,

If you are debating on whether or not to purchase a GBA system, and have enjoyed the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series even just slightly, then this game will convince you to go ahead and buy the system. Simply put, TH3 is that good.TH2 on the GBA was a sharp effort, however this latest version takes it to the next level. The graphics are better and provide more detail. The levels are huge, and more realistic. And the sound, an area which has long suffered on hand-held systems, is top-notch. The only flaw I discovered results from the "almost 3-D" game perspective. There are areas on each board that are hard to navigate due to the gamer's perception. What you may think is a flat area of cement is actually a ditch, for example. The only way to correct this would be to make the game 100% 3-D instead of the bird's eye view that it presently offers. I don't think that the hand-held market has gotten to that point yet. Don't worry though, Tony Hawk 3 is still at the top of the heap.

Activision proves once and for all that an enjoyable skateboarding game can be done on a handheld console. Forget about the Hawk games on the Gameboy Color--those are horrible. If you enjoyed the Playstation/N64 versions of the Hawk series, then I would recommend buying Hawk 3 for the GBA. There are a couple of flaws, but overall the game is worthwhile...Good stuff: phat graphics, large levels, several pros, lots of tricks, realistic action, create a skater Not so good stuff: control scheme can be frustrating, certain areas on each level are almost impossible to navigate, depth perception issues, "living levels" translates into a couple of pedestrians walking around aimlessly that fall down (or punch you) as you skate into them, game is too easy

One of my favorite games for the GBA is Tony Hawk 2, so I thought I would give this one a try. Tony Hawk 3 definitely has more things to do (such as create-a-skater, multi player modes), and the graphics/sound are a bit improved. I only have a couple of complaints. 1. The layout is too crowded. I like how Tony Hawk 2 had more space to breathe, so you can pick up speed, etc. In the new version, I find myself bumping into all kinds of objects which gets frustrating after awhile. 2. The pedestrians walking around is a good idea, but I wish they would do more than just walk around and crumple to the floor when you run into them...maybe yell out profanity or chase you??? The ones that knock you down as you pass by can get kind of annoying also. That's about it...if you can deal with the above complaints, then you'll probably like this game. I haven't had a chance to play the multi-player games (none of my friends own Tony Hawk 3 yet), but I'm sure it would make for some exciting action. Peace...

THPS 3 for GBA. The best yet?,

I bought the original THPS 2 for my GBA when it came out. It was (in my opinion) the best game out for the GBA. The graphics and sound were uncomparable. I thought that nothing could get better than THPS 2!!! But then I checked my favorite gaming news website yesterday...and I saw it: New Screens of THPS 3 for GBA. I was not disappointed AT ALL! I was Ecstatic! I couldn't believe my eyes! Not only was it the sequal to the best GBA game ever, but it was 4 player and had a create-a-skater feature!!! It was a dream come true! I was a bit mad when I found out that those features were NOT on THPS 2 (I also wish that create-a-skatepark made the cut in this game...maybe THPS 4 for GBA...they will probably have to make a GBA memory card too.) This game features 6 of the 9 places that were on THPS 3 for Gamecube, PS1, and PS2 (the places are: Foundry, Rio, Suburbia, Airport, LA, and Tokyo...but no CANADA, Skater Island, or Cruise Ship though...and nostalgic THPS 1 skateparks like on THPS 3 for consoles...but...and this is a hint...if you want the Warehouse level, go get THPS 2 for GBA...it IS on that game.) It includes the classic CAREER mode...a no time FREE SKATE mode...SINGLE SESSION mode...and 2-4 player games (games in multiplayer are: trick-attack, H-O-R-S-E, King-of-Hill...and maybe GRAPHITI...but I dont know about the graphiti game). You can also customize existing skaters and create your own...like Bob Burnquist...:)Can't wait for this game to come out. It is going to be AWESOME!!! Rock On

Tony Hawk Pro Skater is a GREAT GAME. I highly recommend for ages eight and up. The reason for that is because there is some reading involved, and you have to find certain things, and run some errands for other people and stuff like that. There is blood in this game but you can control that by picking how much blood you want your guy to bleed or you can choose not to have any blood at all. (I know it sounds wierd) One of the things that I loved most about it is that you can create your own skateboarder. And another thing that I liked was If you start using a certain skateboarder for a while, every once and a while you get to improve his stats. Oh and one more thing I noticed is that when you first start playing it feels a little wierd trying to make the skater go one way and goes the other and stuff like that, but don't give up cause you will eventually get the hang of it. Well I hope this review was helpful to you.

In the best skating game on the gba, Ride as 13 top skateboarders, including Tony Hawk, as you pull off tons of tricks & combos in obstacle-filled environments. There are many different tricks so this isn't an easy game to master.
You can play in career mode, where you choose a character to do a certain amount of goals to beat the player's career, such as collecting the letters "S-K-A-T-E" scattered in each course. Once you complete a player's career, then try to complete all the goals to unlock another career slightly harder then the first one. Try to beat both careers on each player to unlock another course. You can also play in free skate, which is just practicing. You can also play the tutorial where it teaches you the basic tricks. You can also play 2 player mode, where you and a friend will link up and compete in several different events such as who can get the highest score. The graphics and gameplay are great, and this game is tons of fun and filled with easy and challenging goals.

My Son Says -- Yes!,

My son likes this game a lot. He has played Tony Hawk 2 on Nintendo 64. We were worried about the transition to Game Boy Advance. We heard that Tony Hawk 3 was better than 2, so we got 3. My son is glued to it. He plays that, Mario Super Circuit (ala Mario Kart on Nintendo 64) and Spiderman (Game Boy Color!) on his Game Boy Advance. He gives it a big thumbs up.

This is an incredible skating franchise. I am definately not a skater, but when I first played Tony Hawk 3 for Game Cube, I was hooked and literally stayed up late into the morning playing it.I'm sure this game is no different. It is obviously going to be a great game. It has many new features that were missing from the last version on GBA, such as creat-a-skater and 4 player multiplayer. It also has incredible graphics, just like the unprecidented graphics of Tony Hawk 2 for GBA.[...]. This game will not disappoint you.

Okay, I'm going to try to explain this as calmly as possible. BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!! The levels are fun, the goals are challenging, but not impossible,(just the way I like em'!)the controls are easy to get used to,and the replay value is insane! I have at least 20 GBA games, but this is the topper! The only problem I have is the graphics. They're Not exactly great.Gameplay: 5/5. There are 6 main levels of gameplay. Four are just goals, two are contests. There is one goal that confused me, in the suburbia level. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! It Was the find the secretTape. To do this, I thought that you had to get on top of the thin man's house. But you have to grind the house northeast of it. To do this, go into the northwest pool. Jump out of the North side, then grind the long red rail eastward. Jump constantly, or you'll lose your balance. Keep doing that. After a few seconds, you'll be grinding ona shed. Jump off it, grind the fence, and you'll have the secret tape! This next one had a much simpler Solution. Get a score of 300,000 in the LA level. To do this, simply grind the four trees near the beginning. You'll have the score in no time! Well, anyway, the gameplay is by far the best in any GBA game! Replay Value: 5/5 I've had this for almost a year, and I still play it nonstop! I'm not the least bit tired of it! Controls: 5/5 When I first got this game, the controls were VERY difficult to get used to. It'll take some practice. But once you have it down pat, You'll agree that they are very comfortable. Graphics: 2/5 Not much to say. They're horrible. I'll just leave it at that. Like I said before, BUY THIS GAME! Despite the horrendus(I hope I spelled that right)graphics, you'll be in for endless hours of fun! |
