5.0 out of 5 stars TONY
This film is worth seeing. It's not so much about gore, though there are moments that are truly horrific. What's most horrifying about this film, however, is the Tony's thought process. His actions are seriously misguided and the film is overtly creepy. Peter Ferdinando is plays the role well and this film will leave you with chills.

5.0 out of 5 stars TONY, January 28, 2011
This review is from: Tony (DVD)
It was a great movie if you appreciate the subtle dark humor and the heavy Brittish accent. It wasn't what I expected, but it was still an interesting movie. In all honesty, part of what sold me on it was The The doing the soundtrack! Tony reminds me of my ex-boyfriend so that made it strange for me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just a genre film..., March 18, 2010

This review is from: Tony (DVD)
During the summer of 2009, I worked for a British film festival in France. TONY was one of the films selected to be screened as part of the sneak preview film selection, and was definitely my favorite shown. While this film is sure to appeal to horror fans--the main character is an introverted serial killer that preys on junkies and men he meets at gay bars--it has strong undertones of black comedy, and shouldn't be tossed aside as a genre film. During the festival, people of all ages went to see this film, which was ecstatically praised by younger and older audiences alike.

Tony is seriously demented, but what is genuinely horrifying is how Gerard Johnson has directed a film whose main character can brutally kill but also come off as quite endearing. Will you dare let Tony into your life?

Just saw this at Slamdance film festival. One of the best films I have ever seen. Excellent director and fascinating performance by Peter Ferdinando. I am buying it now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tony- Why, January 19, 2012

Really - What is everyone else watching? What am I missing from this film that has everyone giving it rave reviews? this is one of the worst movies I have seen and I have seen some horrible movies. I can't believe that I wasted $2.99 on this instant video. It is a pretty close rip off of Dahmer, which was far superior film - 'Tony', is quite far from excellent or even acceptable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tony, July 14, 2011
This review is from: Tony (Amazon Instant Video)
It's a terrifying, darkly hilarious look at a man who kills people...for the company. Finally, a horror film that doesn't build atmosphere entirely with smash cuts and fast zooms, and knows the difference between mere tension and actual plot. Watch Tony--it's shudder-inducing, well-constructed, and has the sense to let the audience draw their own insights.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thumbs up., July 13, 2011

A low budget horror film that has a twisted plot no one could have expected. If you have a thirst for blood and a good scream, watch this film. You can get a taste of a British horror film. Tony has won numerous awards and I can see why. Aside from the unrealistic blood and gushy gruesome violence, the acting is decent and the story line keeps you wanting more. But beware, do not watch the film alone if you cannot watch screamers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tony, March 8, 2010
This review is from: Tony (DVD)
Tony is an awkward outcast leeching off of social security, but what he lacks in social skills, he more than makes up for in cold-blooded cruelty. The small scale and budget for this Indie effort help and hinder it at the same time. Gerald Johnson's minimalist approach gives the film a close sense of intimacy on screen, with the voyeuristic cinematography and gritty realism echoing the similarly themed HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER. The limitations of the budget are clearly evidenced in the bare sets and amateur acting, however, with much of the dialog becoming almost impossible to understand due to the muffled audio and thick English accents. Tony is painted to be a totally incapable character, but unfortunately Ferdinando is all too convincing in the role. His performance never manages to draw an emotional response (whether positive or negative) from the viewer, though he does bring a detached, soulless approach to the character. TONY also promotes the theory of violence as having both a catalytic and desensitizing effect on the viewer, which is a stance that is rarely supported in Horror since the genre constantly comes under fire for those very ideas. But for a few jarring acts of violence, the film is devoid of the action and suspense of a straight Horror film while lacking the emotional bond and heart needed to create a successful character study. It is nevertheless an interesting attempt to recreate the raw power of HENRY on a smaller scale.

5.0 out of 5 stars SO Excited after reading this!, February 23, 2010
This review is from: Tony (DVD)
I didn't know a lot about this film, until Bloody Good Horror's review today. It was so good, I had to share an excerpt:

"I read I honestly can't say enough good things about "Tony". It's a horror movie, a dark and twisted human drama, a character piece, an origin story for a seriously flawed superhero -- however you decide to market the picture, Gerard Johnson's fascinating story of an unstable man and his misguided quest to rid the city of crime is nothing short of fantastic. Peter Ferdinando's performance completes the package, and should garner the gifted actor some much-deserved attention. Even after several very hectic days, I still can't get the movie out of my head. Impressive."
