cute -- with solid, practical advice,
By A Customer
This review is from: Too Cute!: Cotton Knits for Toddlers (Paperback)
Yes, the designs are adorable, creative, and a reflection of the author's artistic sensibility. They are also fairly easy to execute. What I appreciate most are the practical tips sprinkled throughout. When the book arrived, I was in the midst of a project for an adult. Still, I was able to immediately apply some of the author's suggestions -- with excellent results. This book is a 'must have' for the serious knitter with little ones in the periphery.

Clever and Fun!,

This review is from: Too Cute!: Cotton Knits for Toddlers (Paperback)
I am really enjoying "Too Cute," which was given to me as a gift. The instructions are clear and the projects seem relatively easy to knit and still creatively challenging. I'm already at work on a sweater for the son of the friend who gave me the book and have learned a few new techniques, plus I like the humorous way the book "reads." Knitting is a fun hobby, not rocket science. I especially appreciate that the book includes sweaters and hats for all seasons...this book will keep me going through Christmas.

Beautiful Whimsy and Excellent Instructions,

The photographs of the items in this book are like looking at the beautiful cakes and pastries in a bakery... but without the calories. The outfits, beanies, and booties are toooooo adorable. However, what really makes this book worth every cent I paid are the straightforward instructions and the tips that accompany each project. I am tempted to make some of the four pointed beanies for myself. They are beautiful and festive... I can't say enough about this book. I just hope Mrs. Ware comes up with another publication as beautiful and creative as this. Enjoy!

As the saying goes, you can't be too rich, or Too Cute!,

I love the colors, patterns and easy to follow instructions of this "How to" book. The author takes the idea behind those fruit and vegetable hats for babies to a playful new height of toddler sophistication. With all those great colors of yarn, I am looking forward to the adult version to brighten up my own closet. A great maternity gift or for anyone who is looking for the Next Best Thing.

Knitting with ease and pleasure;the perfect combination,

I've been a knitter for about 30 years.I knit mostly for toddlers and babies,I find these sizes to be most fun as I am not bound by too many "rules".When I saw this book the cover jumped out at me. The sweater is great, the colors fantastic and the whole look, well, just fun! I opened the book with great excitement and was thrilled to find designs that I will love making. I'm famaliar with cotton classic yarn and know how beautifully designs made with this yarn turn out. The layout of the book is excellent. I like having the directions for each sweater presented with the picture of each sweater. The print is easy to read and the photographs are wonderful. You can tell that Miss Ware has read a lot of knitting books, because she goes out of her way to make hers NOT like many others. Her directions are clear and concise;coupled with the graphs for the different images, this makes for a very happy knitting experience. I look forward to many a happy project with "TOO CUTE" I also look forward to Miss Wares next book.

More for babies than toddlers,
By Kayla's Mommy (New York United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Too Cute!: Cotton Knits for Toddlers (Paperback)
The designs in this book are really adorable, but the title is misleading. There are only 3 patterns in the whole book that are actually in toddler sizes (3T-4T is the largest). The rest stop at 24 months, and some don't even go that high. There's a section on hats in size newborn-6 months, and a section on booties for 3-6 months. While they're all really cute, I have no use for them since my daughter is already 2 1/2 and in a 3T/4T.

Adorable ~ Would not recommend for Beginners,

This book is wonderful! I have made the booties and hats and want to make the sweater on the front for my daughter (and enter it in the fair this summer before she wears it this fall!). Instructions are very good but if a beginner was to look at these they might toss the book across the room. I have been knitting for 20+ years and found the designs of the clothing a little on the advanced side (color changes, techniques, etc.), but the hats and booties were basic. Ms. Ware likes to use expensive yarn too ($5-$7/hank/skein) but the projects do turn out beautifully with her recommended yarn brand. Great book! Would recommend to any intermediate or above knitter. I will be purchasing more books from this designer in the future!

Too Terrific!,

This review is from: Too Cute!: Cotton Knits for Toddlers (Paperback)
From the first glance you can see that these children's sweaters, hats, booties, etc.are original and wonderful, but most importantly Ms. Ware gives you the starting off point to be creative and make the work your own. The book design is clean and clear, the photograghs terrific, and the whole book is too cute!

Debby Ware children's knitting,

Let me first say that I love Debby Ware's knitting patterns for babies, toddlers and children. I find her books to be lovely to look at, with patterns that make me want to pick up my needles and start ASAP. I bought this particular book because I waS looking for summer wear and thought cotton would fill the bill. This is a v. nice book, but hasn't given me the "wow" factor that other Debby Ware books have. If this were the first of her books that I'd purchased, I probably would've given it 5 stars. This author/designer's work is getting a bit "old" so if you already own several of her children's pattern knitting books, you might want to think twice before adding it to your library. But if you've never knit Debby Ware wear before, I'd definitely recommend this book. My only complaint is not about the patterns or her writing or photographs (which are too cute), but that many of the patterns are long-sleeved garments, and hats - not what I consider for summer garments in my part of the country. But this is only my bias, certainly not the author's. I'm not sorry I bought the book and I probably will knit from it, but I wish I'd looked through it before ordering, since I may have done so with a prior view. Still, no real regrets, just a bit of disappointment.
