More About the Author

I started creating books at the age of five, or so my mother tells me. And she has the proof--a neatly penciled story, the pages lavishly illustrated with full color crayon drawings of horses and bound with staples--to back up her claim. I have since moved on from Westerns to writing about Regency England, a time and place that has captured my imagination ever since I opened the covers of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice."

I have a BA and an MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University and now work as the Creative Director of a lifestyle sporting magazine, a job which lets me combine my love of the printed word with my love of art. I'm very fortunate in that my work allows me to travel to interesting destinations around the world--however, my favorite spot is London, where the funky antique markets and used book stores offer a wealth of inspiration for my stories.

I have longed for the next book in this series and when it hit the shelves, I was thrilled to grab it and start reading right away. Ms. Elliott never disappoints me in her character development and interesting story line and in this case took it way beyond enjoy to ecstatic.

Sophie and Cameron have a past that was not bright and shiny but tarnished and a little less than glowing. They may have held each other in the highest esteem at one point but in the present, not so much. Yet Sophie will never let her feelings for anyone sway her from helping her family when they so desperately need it. Sophie is always one to rise above the rest and shine which is something Cameron has always known and wanted to surround himself with every day.

Therefore, Sophie does the right thing now as she has in the past and that requires Cameron's assistance, which he is ready to provide, for a small price. Having lost her once to a mis-guided reputation Cameron will not let Sophie get away this time as even the secrets he keeps may tear them apart.

Cara Elliott writes what about what she deeply feels that love does conquer all. The story of Sophie and Cameron is one plagued with pit falls and mis-steps but readers hope in the end all will be right in their world which you enjoy them so much.

Romantic Suspense meets Regency England.. what a concept! (While I am not completely sure that this is a regency book as there are no dates actually listed, this feels like a Regency book and face it, the opening line just worked.) Cara Elliott is a delight! and another great read sent to me from Netgalley. Too Dangerous is the third book in Ms Elliott's Lords of Midnight Series and does it ever pack a punch

Cameron Daggert, all round bad boy.. thief, pirate, rake, rogue, charmer... Cam can claim them all. Of course loyal friend also applies. The last Hellhound standing, Cam is relaxing in their club when a woman from his past, an innocent woman from his past shows up asking for a meeting with the proprietress. Cam knows there is no way this particular lady belongs in there and he is intrigued. Watching her give one of society's scum a packaged only baffles him more.. enough to make contact with the woman he had adored as a young man..

Sophie Laurence, vicar 's daughter..miner gentry.. solid as a rock.. the one who allows practicality to rule her life is in some serious trouble. Someone is blackmailing her ailing father and wants information that Sophie isn't even sure what it is. They want some old document, that her father probably doesn't even have. And if he does, she has no clue what it could be and he is sadly in the late stages of some sort of dementia. All Sophie wants to do is hold off the villains until her younger sister is married.. hold of the scandal. After braving a gambling hell to make a payment to the scum who are blackmailing her, she is approached by a mysterious stranger who only wants to make sure she reaches home safely.. but something about him reminds her of someone.

"We always long for the forbidden things, and desire what is denied us." - Francois Rabelais

When TOO DANGEROUS TO DESIRE appeared in my mailbox, I viewed it with mix emotions. As Book Three in the Lords of Midnight series, I was eager to read about the third Hellhound, Cameron Daggett. But I also realized it was the end of a series - a series that embraced all that Regency fans love about the era - pageantry, culture, and reformed rogues!

Sophie Lawrance, a minister's daughter, grew up with Cameron Daggett, thought to be the bastard son of the Marquis. But she spurned his offer to elope to Gretna Green because her family needed her. Years later, Sophie literally bumps into a cloaked Cameron in the dark shadows of London's stew. Cameron reveals himself in their second meeting along the Dark Walk of Covent Gardens. They realize they have mutual enemies and pool their resources to save her family once again ... and even save Cameron's soul.

Therein lies the charm of TOO DANGEROUS TO DESIRE - "Safe" Sophie demonstrates that she can contribute to their mission by distracting the guard dog, practicing safe cracking, and flirting with Cameron to get her way. Cameron is tempted by Sophie's untapped passion, but nobility still runs through his blood. As his friends know, he only steals from those who can afford it. But it is Sophie who again steals Cameron's heart.

TOO DANGEROUS TO DESIRE is a Cornucopia for Regency Fans with its "reunited lovers" romance, Robin Hood escapades, cold blooded villains, and guest appearances by characters in the related books. Although TOO DANGEROUS TO DESIRE is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone book.

I received an ARC from Grand Central Publishing for this review.
