Book two picks up on the heals of book one. Ethan's older brother Rafe is now married to Julia. Audra does not want to be a burden now that Julia is married and is thinking about heading back east to her uncaring father. Rafe will have none of that and come up with the idea that Ethan should marry her so she can be the house keeper at the Kincaid ranch that Ethan is now taking over. Before either of them have a chance to think they are wed. Heading back to the Kincaid ranch with crazy Seth in tow how will these two settle into married life. Will they find love after all?Mary Connealy has done it again! She is one of my favorite authors and she does not disappoint in this new book. What I liked: Everything! I really liked both Ethan and Audra in the first book maybe even more then Rafe and Julia. I could not wait to read their story. I love how the characters interact in this book. The humor had be laughing through out. I also love how Ethan and Audra start to care for each other and realize how much they need each other. What I did not like: Really not much. The only part of the story I was not really into was the head bad guy. It really seemed like it did not fit with this story. I am guessing we will hear more from him in the 3rd book. I just did not feel his chapters added anything to the main plot of the story. Over all I loved this book. I love how this author intertwines romance, comedy and suspense(bad guys) and creates characters you fall in love with. I could not put it down and wanted to cry when it was over. I can't wait for book three which will finally tell Seth's story and I can't wait to meet Callie! August can't come soon enough. This is a must read for all historical fiction lovers!

Non-stop Romantic Comedy-Adventure!,
By Melanie Dickerson "Jane Austen's #1 fan" (Rocket City, AL) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: In Too Deep (The Kincaid Brides) (Paperback)
Mary Connealy does it again with heart-warming, non-stop romantic comedy adventure. As with all her books, In Too Deep is exciting, unpredictable, romantic and just plain fun.Ethan and Audra get their turn at being married, and they do it very well, thank you. Audra is sweet and meek, but she's trying to turn over a new leaf and grow herself a backbone. She wants to believe she is brave and fierce and able to take care of herself and her kids, and she isn't going to let any husband get the best of her again. But Ethan is protective and kind and ... pretty clueless. He was emotionally scarred by the terrible accident he and his brothers were in as kids in the dangerous cave near their home. But by the end of the book, Ethan has grown and realized some things, not least of which is that it's really nice having a pretty woman around, especially when she's his wife. There are lots of madcap adventures, bad guys and unexpected moments in this book, just like all Mary's books. And we get a glimpse of the third brother's story, loco Seth, who might not be quite as loco as we thought. Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading about Seth in the third book of the series, and revisiting the wonderful, expanding Kincaid family.

Definitely in Too Deep,

Audra doesn't have many options when her good for nothing husband dies. He leaves her penniless so she cannot support herself and their two children. If she had money, perhaps she could return to her father. However, he sold her to her late husband in payment of a debt. She could stay with her stepdaughter, but Julia is a newlywed and Audra does not want to be a burden to her. That is why Audra agrees to marry Ethan even though he doesn't love her and even seems apathetic to the idea.Ethan's apathy is tested when villains come looking for Audra and the money her late husband stole. The problem is that Audra and Julia have no idea where the money is. This is no time for Audra to grow a back bone, but that is exactly what she attempts to do. Ethan doesn't want to fall in love with Audra since he let down his brother all those years ago. Fear of failing another he loves keeps him hiding behind his grin. While I did enjoy this book as I do all of Mary Connealy's books, I did grow weary of the cave. The cave itself is a villainous character that should be dispatched or at least minimized. I also feel that this series is somewhat disrespectful to men in the language the women use. However, I would still buy this book and I look forward to the third book in this series. Deeply Fun,

I love Mary Connealy. Love her writing, too. If she wrote a grocery list, I'd read it... and it would probably make me laugh, because Mary's just naturally funny. (Don't tell her that, though, because she doesn't think she is... go figure.)In Too Deep is classic Connealy... a strong-silent-type hero and a spunky heroine butt heads in a story filled with laughs, action, and love. If you're already a Connealy fan, you'll enjoy this one. If you're not... then jump on the bus. One caveat... In Too Deep is the second book in The Kincaid Brides series. While you can read it and enjoy it if you haven't read book one, I don't recommend it. Oh, you'll understand what's going on, but you won't have the same attachment to the characters as you would if you read the books in order. So if you haven't read book one, Out of Control, pick that up first. You can thank me later. BTW... I received a copy of In Too Deep from the publisher for review purposes.

I love Mary Connealy's books and was excited to get my copy of the second book in The Kincaid Brides series, In Too Deep. I was not disappointed. There is plenty of danger, romance, and of course, humor. There is never a dull moment in this story; someone is always being shot at or being chased through the dark, scary cavern. And in between all the action, I found myself smiling, giggling or sighing as Ethan and Audra fell in love.If you're already a fan of Mary Connealy, you'll love In Too Deep. If you've never read her, what are you waiting for?

Mary Connealy's books never fail to entertain. They are full of comedy, danger, romance and spirituality. This is the second in her Kincaid Brides series and it is worth every penny I spent. Oh goodness, it was a good one.Audra must decide on the spur of the moment whether to marry Ethan Kincaid or not. She's already had one bear of a husband who left her with two babies and nothing else. But should she take the plunge? Buy the book and find out. You will never, ever be disappointed in a Mary Connealy book.

This was another great Mary Connealy book . Although, the first book in this series, Out Of Control, was my favorite of the two books, this was a really good book. Looking forward to book three that is due out in August.

I loved In Too Deep!,
This review is from: In Too Deep (The Kincaid Brides) (Paperback)
Ever read a book with a stolen fortune, outlaws, marriage of convenience, and a cavern? Want to? Then read In Too Deep!Back in November of 2011, I read Out of Control - that was the first book I read by Mary Connealy! She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, and if all of her books are as good as these two, I will HAVE to read them! :) I could hardly wait to read In Too Deep, since Ethan Kincaid was the character that intrigued me most from Out of Control. Reading Ethan's story and getting to know him (and the other characters) was just fantastic! In Out of Control we learn that Audra's first husband stole a fortune, and in In Too Deep, there are outlaws after it! This added a lot of adventure/danger and it's just another reason why I loved this book! Ethan made me laugh many times in this book. He was just so funny! I loved learning more about the reasons why he smiles a lot and seeing his character grow. There is still another book in The Kincaid Brides series (I wish there were more!), Over the Edge, and I am anxiously awaiting it! In Too Deep gives some hints as to what to expect, and I'm pretty sure it will be great! While I recommend reading Out of Control (because it was so good) before you read In Too Deep , I don't think it is entirely necessary. In Too Deep is great on its own! I loved In Too Deep - it's now a favorite of mine. I recommend it if you like romance, historical, or western novels! *I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

This story has me intrigued. I will definitely be rereading it soon. Unfortunately for me I have not read the first book in the series, so when I began to read it, I felt like I was dropped in the middle of a book. As the story progressed, I was able to follow along better and figure out what was going on. Although I do love this book, I will have to go back and read the first book in the series: Out of Control (The Kincaid Brides) In order to get a better understanding of the history behind most of the characters and their relationships. I highly recommend this book, but it needs to be read in order. Another wonderful story from the pen of one of my favorite christian authors: Mary Connealy. Look for book 3 in this series: Over the Edge (The Kincaid Brides), Seth's Story coming this summer.* I received a free copy of this book through CFBA for this review and tour. Will a marriage of convenience leave Audra and Ethan In Too Deep?,
By Pirate2240 "Kat" (Victorville, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In Too Deep (The Kincaid Brides) (Paperback)
I couldn't wait to read this one when I found out Book 2 of the Kincaid Bride series was out by Mary Connealy, In Too Deep. This time the story picks up right where Book 1 left off. The Kincaid brothers have just narrowly escaped death after a tracker was sent to locate Wendell Gillilan who has stolen some money from Jasper Henry. Unfortunately Wendell died before revealing the whereabouts of what he stole and where he hid it, but the only clue was it's deep, too deep for anyone to find. Now that the tracker is in jail, Jasper Henry isn't about to give up. He's sent someone to find out where his money is and now he knows that Audra Gilliland is still alive with two children and believes she alone knows where it is. Only now she has gotten married to Ethan Kincaid to help protect her on his ranch and Ethan will soon discover that even though this was a marriage of convenience, he soon grows to love Audra and the children as his own and isn't about to let anything come between them. Audra isn't too sure that marriage was a grand idea but the prospect of keeping her two daughters safe was worth saying, "I Do!" for. However when an unexpected fire comes to the Kincaid ranch and leaves Ethan badly burned, the men come looking for Audra and the children. Will she find the strength she believes she is lacking to save her children and Ethan, or will the curse of her late husband consume her once and for all? I received In Too Deep compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review and LOVED it! I missed hanging out with the Kincaid brothers and love how seamlessly Mary transitioned between both books so we feel like we picked up right where we left off. I applaud Audra's courage in the face of adversity and where she finds the strength to weather any storm that comes between her and the Kincaid family! She finds strength in God when she needs it the most! Well worthy of 5 out of 5 stars and can't wait to see where the conclusion of this story will leave. Hurry back Kincaid family! |
