5.0 out of 5 stars Songs God made to blossom forever ( EVERGREENS ), March 11, 2001

The Chi-Lites are one of the best groups out there and I know this because I have all of their recordings and i've personally worked on the same stage with them in the 70's. Songs like Oh Girl, The Coldest Day In My Life and many others will always be around and I think everyone should own them in their collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars soul music at its best, December 6, 1999

The Chi lites helped to define "soul music" that many of my contemporaries danced to,or fell in love to. Eugene Record's writing talents, combined with his stirring falsetto voice, set the stage for other groups around the country to emulate. This album is a MUST for all collectors, or anyone who loves great music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great boxed set too good to be deleted..., August 1, 2005

This review is from: Too Good to Be Forgotten (Audio CD)
Sadly, "Too Good To Be Forgotten" has been deleted. When used "marketplace" copies become available, they fetch a hefty price. Good news, though - the same label (Demon/Edsel) has issued an even better deal - two sets totalling four CD's compiling every track from the Chi-Lites' eight LP's for Brunswick - plus bonus tracks! Search for "Complete Chi-Lites On Brunswick." You can thank me later....

5.0 out of 5 stars CLASSIC SOUL LIVES ON!!!, September 24, 2000

The Chi-lites never sounded better than on the 3 disc from TOO GOOD TO BE FORGOTTEN. The harmony, orchestrations, and phrasing of lead singer Eugene Record will immediately take you back to younger days. If you don't sing along with this group, you're soul-less. You will never tire of this great music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally, "TOO GOOD", December 1, 1999

Brings back the memories of when I sat at home playing all their albums over and over again. Songs like "ain't too much of nothin' & that's how long" gave me the inshights on how a relationship should be. Now, married myself, I could not wait to play these songs and can not imagine the thought of not having Linda, my wife with me today. This box set in the best investment of romantic pleasure you could ever imagine. Thanks, for the memories and the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive collection of outstanding music, February 14, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Too Good to Be Forgotten (Audio CD)
Eugene Record's writing and singing during the Chi-Lites' time at Brunswick was consistently brilliant. This comprehensive collection includes not just the hits but many less well known treasures - check out "I've never had it so good", for example. Sound quality is excellent too. A must for any self-respecting soul music fan.
