Editorial Reviews

Too Hot Not to Handle (DVD)

Heat waves. Melting glaciers. Rising sea levels. Catastrophic storms. Migrating viruses. Population displacement. Over the past 100 years, the mass consumption of fossil fuel, especially in America, has contributed to a dangerous global warming that has adversely impacted the way we live and promises to do far greater damage if we continue to ignore its warning signs. This cautionary documentary offers a guide to the impact of global warming on the U.S. and the measures that need to be taken to reverse this trend.

Too Hot Not to Handle is an excellent documentary that everyone should watch and share with other. We need to aware everyone about the climate changes that our planet is undergoing and the effects it will have on our lives if individuals and governments do not do something about it.

The documentary is very clear and easy to understand. Scientific facts are presented in a clear and simple so everyone can comprehend the importance of this issue. It is a great documentary that may be discussed by teachers and educators in general, on science and social courses.

In this movie many scientists explain different consequences of global warming very clearly. Then they explain many potential solutions and things that are currently being done in several states of US to help stop it. It's a great movie. BTW, it explains that the global Warming is a global average, but in different parts of the World we should expect to see unbalance in the weather, extremes, either very hot, or cooler than usual. That doesn't mean there is not global warming, just that a regional area has colder temperatures is part of the climate change, but overall the average temperature is indeed warming.
I even liked this movie better than An Inconvenient Truth, which is a great eye-opener but doesn't have much about what can be done and is being done to solve this problem that we brought into ourselves.

This movie goes beyond the normal information about global warming. It helped me understand what global warming really is about and all the areas it touches. Everyone should see this movie.

This DVD has a number of "talking heads" short statements interspersed with lots of good video. It is well organized, (mostly) around possible effects of climate change, followed by some responses, including a rather good section about what Portland, OR has been doing for a number of years to decrease their contribution to climate change. This DVD is good at making the point that many of the things we can do to decrease our carbon dioxide input also will save us money in the long run, but it seems to paint almost too Rosey a picture in that sense--make no mistake, decreasing climate change will be painful in other ways.(editorial comment there). In contrast, Gore's movie has more explanation of why some of the climate change effects may occur. So, if you just want to see what the effects may be, this is a good movie. If you want to see some more evidence of why those effects may occur, Gore's movie is better. For those of you who can't stand Gore--does it really matter WHO is saying it? He is just repeating what scientists tell him, anyway.
