This book is great!!!! Author Sonya Sparks brings a banger that is a MUST read. Sonya has an imagination that keeps us on our toes as we read this drama filled novel. Sonya keeps your attention from the 1st word to the very last. There are many twists in this book. In her debut novel, she shows the poise of a seasoned veteran.

Meet Bianca. Many words come to mind when describing her and none are nice; scandalous, trifling, evil, and back stabbing heifer. You get the drift. Her story is so crazy that I cannot even begin to explain, as I do not want to spoil the secrets in the book. I will tell you this she is hell bent on keeping her daughter Ashland away from her one true love, Jordan. To know Bianca is to hate Bianca - yes she is that bad. You have to check out her story. She could have easily had a book all to herself.

Ashland is Bianca's daughter. She has had her share of disappointments in the love department. None can compare to the one she experiences with her first love Jordan. After 10 years of being apart, Jordan comes back into her life. Then the two of them discover all the lies and secrets that have been covered up to keep them apart. See if their love is strong enough to get past a shaky past.

Kayla is Ashland's most trusted friend and employee. She is a very loyal friend, sister, confidant and shoulder to cry on when needed. She is a vital part of the story and adds a lot of flavor to this story. Her story is a compelling attribute to this book. She is one of my favorites in this story.

I look forward to reading more from Ms Sonya. She can hold her own in this literary world. She answers the question I am sure you are all wondering - what possess Bianca to be so cruel to her own child. She answers that and many more. Pick up this book, you won't be disappointed.

This review is from: Too Many Secrets Too Many Lies (Paperback)
This book has more than enough drama that will keep you glued to its pages. Ashland and Jordan are two teenagers who fall in love and plan to marry when they graduate high school. But, because of whom Jordan's grandfather is, Ashland's mother (Bianca) will not allow their love to blossom. So lies are told and secrets are kept to break up Ashland and Jordan. And because of these lies, Jordan and Ashland goes away to separate schools and, after graduating, starts building a life for themselves separate and apart from each other. After so many years of being away from home and his grandfather, Jordan returns. But Bianca is not the only one telling lies and keeping secrets. Jordan's grandfather (Tylen) knows the truth about Jordan's parents and why Bianca doesn't want Ashland and Jordan together. In the meantime, Jordan has bought and plans to renovate his home; and of course who does he get to renovate and decorate it, Ashland. And here is where the drama begins. Ashland and Jordan work out their differences and learns that lies were told to them by Bianca. Bianca finds out they are back together and hires an investigator to dig up information on Jordan. The information she receives, she believes, is enough to break up Ashland and Jordan forever. She pays a woman (Sierra - who was a psycho stalker) from Jordan's past to help destroy his and Ashland relationship. However, when Sierra learns what she's done could have cost Ashland her life and the life of her baby, she reveals who was behind it all - Bianca. Ashland disowns Bianca and Bianca blames Sierra - which brings you to what could be a separate story and/or book of its own, where Bianca seeks revenge against Sierra. But the lies and secrets in this part of the story, actually comes full circle to Ashland; and trust me, these secrets and lies will blow your socks off during the Bianca and Sierra saga.

This is a story about true love that conquers all, bitterness that leaves you lonely, and forgiveness that brings inner peace. There are some very humorous and emotional moments with some of the characters. This book was appropriately named; because it definitely had "TOO MANY SECRETS AND TOO MANY LIES" and all still have not been told. If I could rate this book higher than 5-stars, I would. It was an excellent and quick read - I couldn't put the book down (HIGHLY ADDICTIVE). Even though there are a lot of characters, Sonya briefly gives us just enough details about each person. It is amazing how she twisted everyone's story to come back full circle to just one person. Sonya has the makings of an excellent writer. Sonya Sparks, no one would have ever known this was your first novel. This book has definitely placed her on my list of favorite writers. I just know there will be a sequel - I can't wait.

3.0 out of 5 stars You're no good, you're no good, baby, you're no good., July 12, 2008
This review is from: Too Many Secrets Too Many Lies (Paperback)
Teenagers Ashland Kendrix and Jordan Alexander were once young lovers that sought forever in each other's arms and eyes. When adult situations tore the couple apart, lies and manipulation killed their relationship and disillusioned their views on true love. Ashland's malicious mother Bianca was scorned by Jordan's grandfather Tyler after an adulterous affair years ago. Carrying that bitterness for years, she has directed that loathing to anyone connected to him and pursues a vendetta to break up the youngsters and keep them apart.

Harboring the memories of what they once shared, Jordan anonymously enlists Ashland's company to work for him in a futile attempt to bring closure to his past. The plot continues with a very controlling and spiteful Bianca as she sinks her claws into everybody that she can to cause chaos in their lives. She wreaks havoc throughout the entire novel and is a character that you will utterly despise as she amazes you with the capacity with which she carries out her vindictive feats.

Too Many Lies, Too Many Secrets has great potential to be a good novel, but the poor editing was very distracting and disappointing. Ms. Sparks did a good job in developing each character and building a foundation for their sub-plots. The storyline was stimulating in that the readers' attention is indeed absorbed in seeking the next twist in the plot! Bianca is not a character that you will like, but her sheisty antics were most definitely a lifesaver for this read! If you're a soap opera fanatic, Too Many Secrets, Too Many Lies is the novel for you. Sonya Sparks definitely has an entertaining voice, but with a conscious effort in the perfecting of editing, I think she will do even better in the future.

Ashland and Jordan were teenage lovers who had big plans to get married. But fate stepped in the way and with BIG help from Ashland's beautiful but vengeful mother Bianca, Ashland and Jordan would end up going their separate ways. Ten years soon flew by and Ashland and Jordan became successful in their respective professions. Both had moved on but the love they both had for each other remain locked away in their hearts even after being fed lies about the other by Bianca.
Fate would again play a hand in Ashland and Jordan's lives and this time their friends and family become involved in explosive secrets and lies... and at the core is mother dearest...Bianca!!!!

This story is soooooooooooo good!!! Excellent work by author Sonya Sparks!
This has movie potential written all over it. I had to keep my review short as I didn't want to give a way the story but I would recommend this novel to all. A HIGHLY entertaining read with a clear message...you reap what you sow!!! Bianca was a HANDFULL!!!! If she was my mother, we'd fight, I know it!!!
I would love to pick this author's brain about this novel, there are some interesting characters i.e. Bianca, Sierra, and Kayla. I loved when Kayla dropkicked Jordan...that was really funny!!

Avid readers you don't want to miss this... it's like two stories in one!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Deception at its Best ! !, April 24, 2008
This review is from: Too Many Secrets Too Many Lies (Paperback)
THIS IS TRULY A LIFETIME MOVIE IN ITS FIRST STAGE. I CAN SEE THIS NOVEL MAKING IT TO THE BIG SCREEN ONE DAY!

TO ALL THE LIFETIME MOVIE WATCHERS, YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE!

Sonya Sparks's debut novel sets a good #1 seller out there. Bianca, Ashland's mother, thought she could get back at Jordan's father, for not wanting her exclusively (per his current ENGAGE - MENT) by hurting the kids indirectly. Little did she know the deception she'd tried so hard to cover up would eventually reveal itself completely.

The Kids - Ashland, daughter of Bianca, has a huge high school crush/relationship on Jordan, Tylen's grandson. They are inseparable. Pregnancy arises in their relationship causing the fire of a mother's rage, deceit, hatefulness and down right ugly revenge tactics to increase (yes, they were already in play). The puppy love relationship is severed completely by of course the deceitful witch, or so she thought. Jordan was sent off to a new home and school in order for Ashland feelings to come to an abrupt halt. Life continues on for a couple of years even after graduation. The two of them find themselves re-acquainted and the feelings they once had for each other rekindles, making it hard for Bianca to feel like she's won this sick game.

Bianca will stop at nothing to see these two together for her own sick pride. She does everything in her power (legal and illegal) to not allow her daughter to be truly happy with her childhood sweetheart.

I think I have revealed enough for you to want to go ahead and purchase this book. A GREAT, GREAT, GREAT READ!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Would be excellent except for the grammatical errors, February 24, 2009
This review is from: Too Many Secrets Too Many Lies (Paperback)
This book is great and amazing but being an English Major I could not help but notice how many mispelled words there were and all the missing punctuations. Sonya if only your editor had caught these simple mistakes I would have given your book a 5.
