This is one of very my favorite children's books. The images are vibrant yet peaceful, the words are poetry. They lull us all throughout the book. How can you not feel lovely and peacefully sleepy with prose like "I took the moon for a walk last night, it followed behind like a still Summer kite, though there wasn't a tail or a string in sight, when I took the moon for a walk." And my favorite, "...and the moon called the dew so the grass seemed to weep, when I took the moon for a walk." You should see the images on that page. Beautiful. All three of our daughters have loved this book (almost as much as me.) Highly recommend.
Both my girls have loved this book. I love the soothing cadence, the beautiful prose, the illustrations (with subtle things to notice, like the moon losing a shoe, a ghost by the church, and UFO). It's my very favorite bedtime book to read to both my girls, ages 2 and 5.
