Each tool has it's best use's, I did also install the Ingersoll Rand quick release coupler on my air hammer which makes changing this bit a breeze.

This works great not as just a smoothing hammer but also when you need to hammer parts apart. I really do not know why they don't come standard with the hammer and the chisel set. In a car shop, we use this as much or more than the other chisels.

SG Tool Aid 91125 Smoothing Hammer Air Chisel
This is a great must have tool as mentioned and works great for blasting out u-joints and hammering needs. I did find a 7" long bit in the same style that I found much easier to use than this shorter length. Each tool has it's best use's, I did also install the Ingersoll Rand quick release coupler on my air hammer which makes changing this bit a breeze. Check one of those out if you don't have one. Any way this is a high quality made bit and will last years in my tool box.
Buy with confidence.

I use this all the time for beating on parts.
Great way to shift stuck suspention and other parts.

Prepeated hammering with an air chisel seems better than using a big hammer.

So far I have used it to remove ball joints and pitman arms, it's great.

Fit's my cheapy Craftrsman air hammer and works like a champ. Needed it to remove bushings from my car's suspension.

Lasted maybe 2 hours of total hammering over the course of a month, head broke clean off while hammering straight. Don't believe there's any sort of warranty which stinks cause it was relatively expensive for what I got.

Perhaps this is made for a different type of air hammer but this smoothing chisel is too short on the adapter shank area and it contacts the quick-change retainer on my air hammer, and doesn't fully extend and operate as it should. I ended up buying an Ingersoll chisel.

This might work in some air hammers, but not in mine, which is a std. Ingersol Rand. It fits in the collar, but there is no room for it to move. I returned it and have ordered a longer one.

I tried it out today and it worked excellent in my good old CP-714 air hammer. My only question is who would replace it if it failed?
