From the Back Cover

The First Book to Focus on E-DAT EquipmentWhat Tools You Need, Why You Need Them, and Where to Get Them

Electronic direct access trading is a skilland, like any skill, the proper tools can mean the difference between success and failure. Before you risk money in the live market, you must first ascertain which direct access tools are available, what each of them does, and how to use them in the fast-action, high-stakes world of E-DAT.

Tools for the Direct Access Trader sends you into battle fully armed. The first book to focus specifically on the computer hardware and software, data suppliers, news retrieval services, and other technological and informational resources needed to become a successful direct access trader, it covers:

  • Different hardware/software configurations, and how to determine which is best for you
  • Electronic Communications Networks (ECNs) designed to take you directly to the action
  • Technical indicators, including moving averages, support and resistance levels, and breakouts and breakdowns

The Direct Access Traders Series shows you how to harness the power of today's financial technologieswhether you make 2 trades per year or 2000. Other books in the series include:

  • Understanding Direct Access Trading
  • Mastering Direct Access Fundamentals
  • Direct Access Execution

"Contrary to popular belief, direct access tools are not designed just for day traders. ...Direct access is actually targeted toward anyone who trades frequently and is concerned about the details of his or her executions. Active online investors will find that direct access trading opens up whole new worlds to them."

From Chapter 1

Electronic direct access trading is fast becoming the trading method of choice for independent investors looking for better information, faster trades, and lower trading commissions. But despite the video arcade-like streaming numbers, colors, and symbols of the Nasdaq level II screen, E-DAT is a serious business. Traders who enter the arena without the proper weapons learn quickly that E-DAT requires preparation and knowledge, the same as any other businessand while the payoffs to the well equipped can be extraordinary, the costs to the ill prepared can be unforgiving.

Tools for the Direct Access Trader shows you how to arm yourself for success as an E-DAT trader. This no-nonsense book covers the up-to-date electronic trading products and services you need to enter the market with confidenceand execute your trades with speed and precision. Set yourself up for successful E-DAT trading by using this one-stop guidebook to learn more about:

  • Hardware essentials, including processor speeds and RAM requirements
  • Software packages that are inexpensive, sophisticated, fast, and reliable
  • Tricks of the pros for placing only essential information on your trading screen, and keeping it free of distracting clutter
  • SOES versus ECNswhich are best for certain situations, and why
  • Resource information for E-DAT Web sites and firms, trading schools and conferences, and more

As an E-DAT trader, you are only as good as your tools. Let Tools for the Direct Access Trader show you how to outfit yourself for success by giving you the speed, functionality, and information access to place you on the same level as the large, institutional traderswith a trading maneuverability and flexibility that larger, bulkier traders can't touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tools for Trading by Abell, May 27, 2004
This is an excellent book for beginners desiring to learn and apply the techniques for digital day trading. There is an electronic platform called "Superdot". Considerable analytic software exists to facilitate the trading process i.e. Trade Station, Telechart, Trade Expert Pro etc. It is essential to
craft a viable business plan. Stock selection involves a careful analysis of liquidity, volatility, sponsorship, qualitative information and price. Breakout trading techniques are important after the stock market consolidates and re-groups. Sometimes it is important to test the tops and bottoms. Lastly, it is critical to anticipate market opportunities and to ignore noise.
