This book, based mostly on the transcript of one of the Tools of the Spirit seminars, provides an informative and useful substitute for those who did not have the privilege to attend one. Though you'll miss the energy and transforming effect of the experience in a whole group, you can still get the flavour of the stories and various exercises. Robert Dilts and Robert McDonald are excellent facilitators and presenters. In contrast to the early arrogance in the NLP world, bragging quick fixes and all kinds of techniques for change, this book and the seminars it was based on, bring a much fuller perspective of death and shadow, rebirth, the "heart" and the spiritual dimension into NLP. People with apriori definitions, prejudices and expectations whenever "Spirit" is mentioned may have difficulty with such a book. But for anyone interested in growth into wholeness, this book is an excellent tool. Robert Dilts' article in appendix B, "Bringing Light Into the Darkness: The Principle of Positive Intention", if really understood and lived, will already transform the world.

I have had the privilege of attending one of the Tools of the Spirit seminars with the authors, Robert McDonald and Robert Dilts, back in the 1990s. The seminar helped me get in touch with my soul, Spirit, and higher Purpose. I realize this sounds cliche' and new-agey, but it's true. Reading this book some months later took me right back to the days of the seminar and renewed all that I had learned and experienced there. For those who have not been fortunate enough to attend a seminar, this book will bring the two Roberts to the comfort of your home. They will take you through an entire seminar, if you take the time to absorb what they are saying and do the exercises presented. You will emerge feeling more complete and better integrated at all levels -- environment, behaviors, capabilities, beliefs, identity, and Spirit.

Great resource for coaching people through belief changes and finding meaning. I am so grateful to have been introduced to this book.

First this is not a book but a seminar transcript of 4 day workshop. Evidently the authors were too lazy to rewrite it for a general audience. The contents is even worse the author had decided to mix a little christianity, pop-psychology, A Course in Miracles, Buddhism and Taoism together. The mix is a disaster. The so-called exercises range from 'lets stare into each other eyes meaningfully' to so some bizarre two person exercises that don't have anything to do with spirituality or for that matter anything else. But considering that the author has no background or training in any spiritual path it does not come as suprise.
What he did was to read some books on the subject and then offer seminars on spirituality.
There's a lot words I would call a man who writes garbage like this but they are not suitable for family viewing. Suffice to say that he gives spirituality a bad name.
If you like Shirely McClaines work or the Mutant Message Downunder you might like this book.
Much better books writter by people who actually practice what they teach would be:
Essential Spirituality - Roger Walsh
Awakening the Buddha Within - Lama Surya Das
Creating Spirituality from Scratch - by the above
