Each day, firefighters throughout the country use numerous tools. Without the knowledge of how and when to use these tools, they become ineffective and a waste of space on the apparatus.

This review is from: Tools of the Trade: Firefighting Hand Tools and Their Use (Paperback)
I am a career Firefighter in NY and am always on the lookout for books that will improve my performance and help me with promotional exams. This looked interesting, so I ordered it. Most of what is in here is so basic that a probie just out of school knows it already, and what little interesting stuff there is could have been distilled down to an article in Fire Engineering. There just isn't enough to warrent a whole book.
My other chief complaint is that there aren't enough pictures. Once in a while the author describes a tool, or technique for using one that sounds interesting, but it isn't supported with pictures, so you are left trying to figure out what he is talking about, and most times you can't. A picture is truly worth a thousand words. Save your money and use it to buy IFSTA Fireground Support Operations, You'll get more out of it.
