From Library Journal
A kind of "Whole Writing Catalog," this is both a consumer guide and a compendium of tips on buying and using aids helpful to authors. As consumer guide it scans PCs, software, office supplies, information and photo sources, professional services, and much more. The signed contributions are brisk and realistic, but not rigorous like the work of product rating firms. The tips, from over 200 experienced ASJA members, range from simple to sophisticated. Reference librarians will find much here to augment their files; the intended audience of writers will find parts of immediate usefulness. Lists of writers' organizations, mail order sources, and contributors' backgrounds wrap it up. While neither definitive nor exhaustive, this work is recommended as a support for today's high-tech freelancers.
