Overall if you're a fan of cartoons, this and similar CDs would be appropriate for you. I found the sound quality very good, at least better than if I had recorded directly from the TV. If you're familiar with the cartoons, however, you may notice some differences between the CD tracks and the themes as they were actually heard on TV. For example, Scooby Doo's voice is not heard on this disc. It is heard on Television's Greatest Hits, 70s & 80s. (One minor thing left out is the ketchup sound.) The Flinstones theme (on Toon Tunes) leaves out the whistle sound, I think. In the first track of this disc, Popeye's voice is a bit deeper than what I'm used to. The Jetsons theme is close to what I'm used to, but not exactly. (Keep in mind that many of the themes on this disc may be the original versions, not the later versions people like me heard.) Also, the closing theme's title "That's All, Folks" may be deceiving if you're expecting to hear Porky Pig; you won't. If these differences don't bother you cartoon fans, you might enjoy this disc.

Compilation disks sometimes leave out the good stuff. "Toon Tunes" does not. The greatest theme songs in cartoon history are here.
Growing up, I never knew the real lyrics to "Popeye" Captured here on a CD, I can hear the complex tough-guy words more clearly than on our old black and white Zenith.
The pure energy of "Super Chicken," the heavy beat in "George of the Jungle" and the 1960s jazz stylings of "Spiderman" come through with great power on a real stereo.
They've included "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "Animaniacs" and a few others I like, but wouldn't consider classics. They don't compare to "Yogi Bear" or "Underdog," but this could be my generation showing through.
Missing are internal songs. The Simpsons best moments might be 30 second ditties like Homer's "It was a Very Good Beer" and Mr. Burns' "See My Vest," and great Loony Tunes songs are likewise hidden in the middle of a cartoon short, like Daffy Duck singing "Figaro." Disney songs aren't on here either. I'd love to hear "Bear Necessities."
Still, I can't really fault a company which crammed fifty hilarious tunes onto one disk. Someone should make a massive box set.
This is great fun, and hoot to show friends who will beg to borrow it.
Fans of cartoon music humor will likely want to pick up "Songs in the Key of Springfield" from the Simpsons, and a Merry Melody compilation.
Have a yabba dabba doo day!

These 50 classic cartoon theme songs are so much fun and bring back so many great memories. I had long forgotten many of the shows and their characters and this CD brought them back. Listening to the songs triggered memories of the shows and even particular episodes. Then, there are theme songs that I had thought I had long forgotten--listening to them, even for the first time, I found that I knew all the words--Incredible Fun! PS--I paid $23 for this CD in Maui--Now I'm ordering several for Christmas Stocking Stuffers!

I purchased this CD because I initially wanted to listen to about 10 of the 50 themes. Fortunately for me, I let the CD run and was instantly taken back to my childhood. I was surprised at how the lyrics of the themes just all came back to me.
The audio quality is simply stunning, considering that these shows have been around for the longest time. The one thing that kind of bothers me is that Popeye's voice is about 4 octaves lower than what I remember.
However, the rest of the CD is absolutely spectacular. If you were or still are a classic cartoon watcher, buy this CD! It would also make a great gift for your kids or fellow cartoon watchers. I promise you won't be disappointed!
