"I know what you're tryin' to say to me...",

If you're a Ted Nugent fan you should have this CD. There are some wild songs on this album that really "get down" but "Sasha" is probably the most mellow, beautiful song he ever did. "Hibernation" and "Free Flight" are instrumentals. Many of the songs here start with unforgettable guitar licks. "Lady Luck", the first song, starts out with the kind of sound you're going to hear on the entire album; Nugent playing with wreckless abandon. Rob Grange on bass deserves to be mentioned too. On "No Holds Barred" and "Hibernation" he just can't be beat.

Nugent's Greatest Achievement,
By
This review is from: Tooth Fang & Claw (Audio CD)
Tooth Fang And Claw is billed as Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes, while other line-ups were simply The Amboy Dukes; this was just prior to his Epic Records solo career(and the same band minus Derek St. Holmes backs him here). Some of these cuts later appeared in live versions on Double Live Gonzo and remained staples of his live show. For me this is Ted's finest era. Nearly all of this album is a winner; well "Hibernation" maybe gets a little tedious and his cover of "Maybeline" is a little half baked, but basically it's all a good time. This is much more consistent than the Epic solo albums with the exception of Cat Scratch Fever which is pretty strong in it's own right. Most of his solo records aren't very good outside of the radio cuts. It seems my favorite Nuge material is all the stuff his mainstream fans have never heard. Along with Tooth... I recommend the also out of print CD Call Of The Wild and the live, earlier Dukes (never released on CD, I think?)Survival Of The Fittest.

An All-Time Classic,

This is a GREAT Ted Nugent album - one album prior to becoming
famous as the wildman (who I've gotta admit I sometimes think is a bit over the top...) Anyway, I think this album is a bit longer on music and slightly less on general bad-ass attitude. Great White Buffalo is fabulous, but all of the songs are good to great. Memorable. A couple are instrumental. But all of them are absolutely cranking guitar-god genius. I had this album on LP way back when, then on tape for the last however many years that this album wasn't available. Until today - when I'm absolutely gonna order a brand new CD!

Don't take it so seriously. He's also showing off his chops. This is the best Ted album, period, IMHO. Can't wait until he remasters it and rereleases it. That's why I searched and found these reviews. Until then, the vinyl will do.

Why isn't this album re-issued?,

This is a great Ted Nugent album, the album beforehe became famous as Ted Nugent (and got a little too crude sometimes). Just an absolutely great album that totally cranks. Great White Buffalo is classic.

Great Disc.....if you can get it,

I burned out two copies of the LP. Great White Buffalo is a true Sweaty-Teddy song. It's just too bad that the disc isn't available. (unless you're willing to pay upwards of $100 for a $12 CD

Ok Early Nugent, But The Worst Is Just Around The Corner.....,

This review is from: Tooth Fang & Claw (Audio CD)
This disc and its companion (Call Of The Wild)are the 2 best albums Der Nuge ever made. Still, it's hard not to laugh at the lyrics and the ridiculous guitar playing. The rhythm section carries the ball here and makes these songs palatable. All of the Ted fans out there who only know him from his hideous CatScratch/WangoTango years are in for a real treat here. P.S. Don't pay these scalper prices, you can get these cheap on Itunes ($7.92)........

Ted at his best,

I Heard this Album for the first time about 1976 at a Friends house in Kalamazoo Mich. They had this huge 3 story brick garage, the 3rd floor had been turned into a party hang out by my friends older brother and that is exactly what we used it for. It wasnt really anything special, several huge wooden cable spools for tables some old thread bare but sevicable couch and chairs with wooden crates for end tables that had some cast-off but working lamps on them. There were the obligatory Rock mags strewn about along and periodicals that extoled one of the more popular "green" interests of the counter culture life. By far, the most important aspect of this some what austere den of the aforementioned counter culture life was that it had been outfitted by the older brother with some awsome sound equipment. It was here I first heard a Ted Nugent recording, it was this album "Tooth, Fang and Claw" and like the first time I was introduced to Ten Years After at the tender age of 14, I was never the same. Tooth Fang and Claw was the first time I had heard guitar playing that ROCKED like this, raw, straight forward, almost no gimmicks and Ted was GOOD at it too. I told you all that to tell you this, If you like to rock BUY THIS ALBUM, next to Ted's self titled release that gave the world "Stranglehold" this will satisfy the most demanding rocker.

You can say a lot of things about Ted Nugent both good and bad. One thing you can't say if you knew anything about playing guitar, is that Nugent is can't play. Nugent can flat out play guitar with the best of them and this album gives you a young Nugent playing a hollow body Gibson through Fender amps. It's just pure uncomplicated hard rock and the songs are great...take a listen!

THis album's classic sound is hard to beat. I know RYKO released the disk. But it is hard to find. I dont think it is worth 50-100 bucks though. I think I have seen copies of it for 10-20 dollars.
