5.0 out of 5 stars Great Addition July 31, 2013

If you enjoy the Rot and Ruin series, you will love this! It`s a great way to keep track of the characters and be introduced to new characters while waiting for the next book in the series. This short book picks up where the last left off, with Benny and his friends in sanctuary being trained by Joe Ledger. I love that Captain Ledger is in this series. I also love that Mike Sweeny was is this book as well. This really got me excited for the final book.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's not to love? August 10, 2013

I love these mini-stories that fill in some of the Rot & Ruin character's back story.

If you haven't read this series, what are you waiting for?

5.0 out of 5 stars Short review of "Tooth and Nail" August 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am big fan of Jonathan Maberry' s work and the Rot and Ruin series hits home runs for me. This particular short story is a wonderfully written segue to the next novel Fire and Ash. It is action-packed and provides his fans the ability to catch-up with "old friends" until the new novel is released. It's a treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! July 29, 2013

I have loved the rot & ruin series from book one. Each keeps me wanting more and I love the short stories in between that fill in the missing pieces/add new aspects to the story. Excellent and well written series!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Maberry-verse expands July 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
More tales from the Rot and Ruin are never a bad thing, but the greatness of each of these side tales grows as the series nears a close. This story quickly brings the reader up to speed on what has happened in the past year with Benny Imura and the gang from Mountainside as they train with Captain Ledger in Area 51. That's right - JOE Ledger. But even more of the Maberry-verse comes into play as the tale is paid out when we see more of the reapers from the Night Church stalk a caravan of traders, the leader is none-other-than Iron Mike Sweeney from the Pine Deep Trilogy - Maberry's first foray into fiction novels. Iron Mike's intro into the world of Benny is handled deftly and his place and past history not shoe-horned in as when other authors have brought their past creations into their current fiction. I'll save the spoilers, but even knowing that Mr. Sweeney was in the story going in the appearance was so amazingly well paid off as I read it, I wanted to stop then and there and re-read it. Definite "Squee!" moments, folks. Action aplenty to be had, as in all of JM's stories, and it's edge-of-the-seat stuff. But there's more character development for Benny, and evolution of his understanding of the part he has to play in this next phase of his life.

Just like all the shorts that Maberry seeds between his major tales, these are continuity movers that aren't required-reading for the folks that only buy the books to understand and get, as Maberry does a great jobs in the novels proper but the background detail they paint is not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jonathan Maberry. Nuff said. January 2, 2014

This is an easy review. If you read his stories them there is nothing I can tell you. He is just incredible. If you've never read his works, then what are you waiting for!! Don't worry if you're not a zombie fan- you don't have to be. Zombies are only part of the story. The true meaning( in my humble opinion) is the human heart and how we treat it. Humanity at it's best and worst. Hope is so powerful ,and thankfully, many people refuse to give up on it. If you never read another book you should read his stories.
