5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Music Indeed !!, September 4, 2010

This review is from: Toots Sweet/Conte Candli Quintet (Audio CD)
This album from 1955 (a Bethelem record once released as "Powerhouse Trumpet" too) has just been published in a single less expensive cd together with "West Coast Wailers" by the same quintet which by the way share with this one the magic frontline of Conte Candoli, Bill Holman, Lou Levy. These two gems are truly spectacular and if you love Jazz and West Coast Jazz in particular you absolutely have to own them both. I can't decide which one I love the most, but probably, this one is the best among the two, and this means a lot because West Coast Wailers is a myth among westcoastjazz fanatics and you can bet I love it! All in all, this album is truly a gem and it deserves all your efforts! You can buy this edition if you find it (it's out of print at this moment and moreover it is always very expensive) which is japanese and I'm sure it's a very beautiful thing (japaneses always do a great job with the re-edition of old glories). But the new less expensive edition by Definitive Records is available, extremely well remastered (24bit) and has two wonderful albums instead of one in their full length for half the price. A way better deal to me, even because I wouldn't want to separate these two albums which forms a perfect closed box of a magic Californian combo of the golden era (the musicians are the same for the two albums). Wonderful music indeed! Enjoy!
