I've got several of Maranatha's collections of popular worship songs, which come out every year. Many of the songs on each year's CD are the same ones that were on the previous year's CD, with a few additions and subractions, but the recordings are different (different singers, sometimes different styles).

I happen to like this 2005 version and I think some of the recordings are as good or better than the recordings by the original artists. For example, you might prefer, as I do, the rendtion of "Better is One Day" on this CD to Matt Redman's original. Other renditions I really like on this CD are "Open the Eyes of My Heart", "Here I am to worship", "Trading My Sorrows", "I could sing of your love forever", "We Fall Down", and "Lord Reign on Me". I also like the fact that there is a good mix male and female vocal leads. "We Fall Down" is a Chris Tomlin (male) song that is movingly sung by a female lead

In my opinion, nearly all the recordings on this CD are great, giving you a good value for your dollar (25 songs on 2 CD's). Since musical tastes are subjective, don't go by my opinion alone or another one that criticizes this collection. Check them out by listening to the clips of each song and judge for yourself.

Of course, since this is a 2005 CD, these selections are not the latest and hottest worship songs, but many of them are considered classics.
