Amsterdam top ten - worth the price,

This review is from: Top 10 Amsterdam (Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guides) (Paperback)
First, I'm a fan of the Eyewitness series and find all their books valuable. Not knowing alot about Amsterdam I wanted something that gave me an overview but also provided alot of information in a condensed format. This was the book, also books are heavy and I want to travel with my book so size was also a factor. This fit the bill.

The pocket-sized Eyewitness Guides are much easier to consider taking with you on trips.
The heavy tomes are wonderful for armchair preparation but too heavy to take on trips. The daily high-light sites are particulary helpful for short visits. Having a succinct list of must-sees or unique detours is appetiziing. Size, shape, lists and maps are perfect!

The DK Top 10 guidebook is excellent for the traveler who has just a few days to spend in Amsterdam. It has the highlights of the city with maps and details useful for navigating the city.

unorganized,

I've always been partial to choosing the DK eyewitness travel books since they have pictures and concise descriptions of the attractions. However, the "Top 10" series seems to be a bit unorganized in the way they present the info. It literally is top 10 of stuff in Amsterdam; which means they list attractions overall and is not organized in reference to area (which helps when you're planning your day). Not until the last half of the guide do they list by area, but they cross-reference to other pages, so you're flipping around to get various bits of info about the attraction. If there's a regular dk guide i would chose this over the top 10 in the future.
