because if they did, they'd probably enjoy this album. however, everything sounds like james taylor or someone amplifying a vacuum cleaner these days. oh yeah, a lot of the lyrics are humorous and/or recontextualized (like their name and cover art) lyrics of other songs. a good album if you both drink heavily and read a lot, but enjoy zz top (and in an only slightly ironic way). The neutrality of this article is disputed.

Old School Southern Blues Rock!,
By Raleighreef (Raleigh, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Top Billin' (Audio CD)
This album is such a contrast to most of the music that's out right now. Most bands today polish, mix, and work on their songs until they think they have every note, every change and every shift down pat. The result is a bunch of bands that sound exactly the same live (most of them even play note-for-note solos) as they do on their albums.
The New Lou Reeds, on the other hand, released an album that takes me back to the college days, where I can go to a bar, pay a buck for a PBR in a can, sit back, and watch a band that jams bluesy, southern style rock. I know jam bands like Phish and the Grateful Dead struggled to transfer the sound and energy of their live concerts to a studio album, and it's a shame that they didn't have this album to help show them how to keep their music unpolished and a little raw in places to help capture that sound. Basically, this is an album that you'll want to buy if you want to hear really cool guitar riffs and licks that will stay in your head for days after you first hear the song, and it's an album you'll want to buy if you want to hear 3 guys who just want to sit down and jam. Like I said, it's a little raw, but that's what has makes it cool!
