I recently purchased the Top-Flite XL (2010) golf set. I've never owned my own golf set, and I used to go to the driving range and borrow a friend's clubs or borrow clubs from the range. When I finally decided to start playing golf regularly, I was choosing between getting a few (3 wood, 4 iron, 6 iron, 8 iron, wedge, putter) used name-brand clubs from [...] or get a starter set. Overall the price was about the same, so I decided to go for this set here since it has more clubs and the bag. I have not regretted this decision at all--this is a great beginners set! My consistency has dramatically improved; I'm not sure if I was just using clubs that were the wrong size, or if this set is more forgiving, but with the irons in this set I'm hitting the ball much better. The hybrids are great too, much easier than the low irons. The bag is more than adequate and has lots of room. If you're just learning golf or have taken lessons and are trying to become more consistent, look no further.

I was skeptical at first about purchasing a set of golf clubs over the Internet, but after reading everyone's reviews, I felt I'd give this set a try. I just received the clubs and have only taken them to the driving range once, but I need to agree with everyone else in saying the quality of the clubs for the price is definitely a deal. I'm not trying to win any trophies out on the course, so I just wanted a set that was decent quality, constructed well and didn't cost anything absurd. This set seems to pretty much fit the bill with all of the above. And compared to the old clubs I was using, this set is made out of gold. The irons are weighted nicely so you have a great feel for the club and club head during a swing. The driver is lightweight and has a large sweet spot, so it is fairly easy to use. The three wood also works well. I didn't use the four or five hybrid clubs much, they may need a little getting used to, but seem fine. Overall, the standard club size is good; I'm 5 foot 9 inches and the clubs fit me great. The club grips may not be the best out there, but they work just fine. The putter is slightly funky looking, but not in a bad way, and it seems to be well designed. The golf bag is sturdy and has plenty of pockets and room for clubs. The golf-bag straps are comfortable, and can be worn in a backpack fashion, or just thrown over the shoulder; a hand strap is also on the side of the bag. I went to the range with my friend who has a set of Ping irons and Taylor-Made woods; he also thought the Top-Flite XL set was solid quality and worth the buy. Also, buying a complete set like this was much simpler than purchasing irons, woods, driver, putter, bag, wood covers, etc., all separately.

If you are looking for a set of golf clubs to use casually at the driving range and the golf course, I would recommend this set.

Really great value for the money! I'm a beginner, so I had no intention of investing in an expensive set until I got the hang of the game. The clubs are perfectly weighted and I love the oversized driver head!!

Bag comes with a driver, 3 wood, 4&5 hybrid, 6-7-8-9 iron, pitching wedge and a putter. That accounts for 10 pieces of the "13-piece set" with the remaining 3 being the bag and 2 head covers. Not to gripe too much about that last detail (because I did get what I ordered!), but I would have gladly foregone the "covers" for a sand wedge or even a lower iron like a 3 or a 5!

Overall, a great buy if you're a beginner.

I sold my Pings 8 years ago and had not touched a club since. Since I now live in a golf course community, I thought I would give these clubs a try. The reviews here were very favorable, and I have to agree. I took the clubs out to the driving range and found that I hit everything long and straight. The clubs are well made and feel very comfortable. They are forgiving if you miss the sweet spot. I had no problems with driver "denting," and I really like the putter. This is a great set of clubs for the beginner/occasional golfer who is not out there every chance they get trying to qualify for the senior tour.

Just received my set and the quality is undeniable. Its hard to believe that this is starter set, the driver is so light with a good balance between stiffness and flex. I'm really impressed with what you get for the money with this set and would recommend this set 100x over for anybody who is looking to start learning the game without breaking the bank.

Now, out of everything I've bought off this website over the last 5 years, this is the FIRST one that I've come back to, to do a review for.

First off, the pros:

Good Length (I'm 6' tall)
Large Sweet Spot (on EVERY club)
Good Overall Feel
Great Putter
Spacious Bag (I like having the felt pocket for valuables)

And now, the cons:
Grips Could Be Better
Stand Legs Are Flimsy
Need To Purchase A Sand Wedge (PW is NO good out of a bunker)
Hybrids Are Hard To Adjust To
Hard To Judge The PW

Overall, it's a great set for someone (like me) who's only been playing for a few months and wasn't wanting to empty out the savings account for a nice newer set. When I first started out, I was using a borrowed set of clubs that had to be 10+ years old (the 3W, 4W and 5W were actual WOOD) and the irons were the old blade style. Now, changing from those to the perimeter weights is an obvious HUGE gain, but going from using a 3I-9I to the 4H and 5H and 6I-9I was a big change. Something I really still haven't gotten used to. Basically, the tip to hitting these Hybrids, is to use it like a fairway wood. They look JUST like one, just a little smaller, and they aren't good for any shots that aren't on the fairway. But, with the large sweet spot that all the clubs have, and the large face with line-up on the putter, they're VERY forgiving. I went from slicing balls with every club in the bag, to maybe losing 2 or 3 out of 18 holes. I used to shoot around a 90 on 18 holes (bear in mind I JUST picked this game up) but with these clubs, and the distance I can get on the driver, I'm shooting right around a 78. With a ~105mph swing speed and a good distance ball, I can get around 230 yards on a solid hit. Now, not changing ANYTHING except the type and brand of clubs and dropping 12 strokes on average is a HUGE advantage for me. And doing all that without spending a car payment for some hunks of metal that I can't drive or that won't clean my dishes automatically for me, sounds pretty appealing to me! Would definitely recommend these to any beginner or slow starter.

Just purchased this unit and took it out to the course today, They hit really great. I am a beginner and only golfed a handful of times but I still liked it. The stand bag has plenty of pockets to hold everything. It was really light and had a backpack type strap to carry like a backpack though I didn't use it.

Great set for the beginning golfer. I've played 5 rounds so far in addition to hitting hundreds of balls at the driving range. The quality of the set can't be beat for the price. Clubs are very forgiving (in comparison to my friend's nike set I played with before). Bag is comfortable to carry for 18 holes and holds everything you need. Just be ready to get a SW as this is the only club that doesn't come with it that I feel like I'm missing.

These are my third set of clubs since i started golfing, and they are my favorite set. I love the irons and the putter. I even took the clubs with me when I went to get a lesson at a local golf course and the pro there liked them as well. I'm very glad I bought these and would highly recommend to anyone interested.

I live in Australia and the clubs arrived very well packaged so were in perfect condition when I got them.
The quality of the clubs themselves is well above what I expected for the price.
The bag is light and the club heads are nicely weighted.

Would definitely recommend!
