5.0 out of 5 stars Great Racing Game., August 15, 2010

This review is from: Top Gear Rally for Nintendo Game Boy Advance (Video Game)
This is one of the best gba racing game. Its a rally type game. Its not all nature, some levels are cities. There are computer cars on the track racing against you, which is better than just driving alone.

The graphics is 'good' overall. The 2-d scenic backgrounds are simply gorgeous, they almost look like CGI. The cars look great; detailed 3d, sharp, colorful and cell shade like. You can flip the car over, pretty cool effect. The road environment is very blocky, this is what they call mode-7 or 3d graphic engine. Looks like PS1 graphics. The buildings look crude, the trees are laughable, etc... in motion they look better and you get use to it. The engine's graphic is average but very SMOOTH. Trees have many different colors which is nice. Courses have nice details like trucks, cafe tables, boats, people, signs, poles, etc.. along the side. Kemco used 3 very different looking graphic schemes, but add all up its pretty nice and surreal.

The tracks have lots of nice up and down elevations. Many different turns. Draw distance is GOOD but sometimes you have to rely on warning cursors or announcer. Sound is good, solid speech effects. Music is non-existence except menus. The variety of courses is NICE. There are 10 locations and 3 courses for each location. Most location's 3 courses have different backgrounds! There are few repeats. About 20+ different looking courses. The rally cars are not real licensed cars but they look good. Not much in the modification department.

The control can be a bit wobbly because lots of counter steer is used, overall the control is good and solid. Drifting is cool and useful. The cars are bumpy and are constantly wobbling, this effect is nice and much better than stiff and flat physics. Sense of speed is solid, fast and smooth! You can toggle camera view to first person/hood view which is excellent! Game modes and options is solid. 3 cups/difficulty. Good amount of unlockable cars. Time attack record save and ghost mode is nice. Also try V-Rally 3 and Moto Racer Advance, both are good in their own ways.

Overall this is a GREAT gba racer.
