2.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTING! MOST OF THE RECIPES ARE REPRINTS..
I'm a big fan of Todd Wilbur's cookbooks. My disappointment here was with the number of recipes that are already in his other books. I shelled out $24 bucks earlier in the year for the QVC book because they were supposed to be "exclusives". Now several of these show up this book 6 months later. I also prefer the restuarant recipes to the other recipes but how many...

Ready to save a trip to the fast food joint while saving a bit of money? Todd Wilbur writes another book chock-full of clone recipes that can be fixed using every day ingredients found in most kitchen cupboards.

Have a yen for a Sonic burger then you'll find the recipe in this book. Are you wanting a cool McDonald's Sweet Iced Tea? You'll find a recipe for this tasty beverage. Trying to lose a few pounds and would love to have a Weight Watcher's friendly muffin? The Weight Watcher's Banana Muffin clone recipe is in this book.

Here's a brief run down of some of the clone recipes included in Wilbur's newest cookbook:

* Arby's Horsey Sauce
* Bisquick All-Purpose Baking Mix
* Boston Market Garlic Dill New Potatoes
* Burger King Zesty Onion Ring Sauce and Onion Rings recipe
* Carl's Jr. Six Dollar Burger
* Chick-Fil A Honey Roasted Barbecue Sauce
* Chipolte Mexican Grill Barbacoa Burrito
* Del Taco Fish Taco
* Fritos Hot Bean Dip
* Heinz Premium Chili Sauce
* Hellman's Best Food Mayonnaise
* Jack in the Box Pumpkin Pie Shake
* Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sausage
* KFC Cajun Wings
* Kozy Shack Rice Pudding
* Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnuts
* Lipton Brisk Iced Tea
* Maid-Rite Loose Meat Sandwich
* McDonald's Cinnamon Minis
* Old Bay Seasoning
* Popeye's Buttermilk Biscuits
* Skyline Chili
* The Soup Nazi's Crab Bisque
* Starbucks Gingerbread Latte
* Starbucks Cranberry Bliss Bar
* Stouffer's Macaroni and Cheese
* Subway Sweet Onion Sauce
* Taco Bell Baja Sauce
* Wendy's Garden Sensations Mandarin Chicken Salad

What I really like about cookbooks such as this as I can prepare the recipes at home which helps save money. I can also modify the recipes to reduce fat and lower calories therefore making them a bit healthier.

Well I'm off to prepare some yummy recipe clones!

UPDATE: We've been busy with Thanksgiving festivities, etc. but I did find time to make the Sonic Burger which my daughter loves to eat. We don't have a Sonic here so I was happy to give this recipe a try. She said, and we all agreed, the Sonic Burger was exactly how we remembered it. Very tasty too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book--Gotta Get Em All!, November 29, 2009
This review is from: Top Secret Recipes Unlocked: All New Home Clones of America's Favorite Brand-Name Foods (Paperback)
I have most, if not all, of Todd Wilbur's books and I have not had a bad recipe yet. This new book is great because it has all new recipes and recipes you will use regularly--like Lawry's and Old Bay seasonings. I can't wait to try the McDonald's Cinnamon Melts. If they are as good as Todd Wilbur's Cinnabon recipe, I know they will be excruciating delicious! I also can't wait to try the Starbuck's cranberry bar, lemon cake and pumpkin bread recipes.

This guy must have very particular taste buds because he hits the nail on the head in his cloning practices time and again. If you can get your grubs on two of his other books, Top Secret Restaurant Recipes and Top Secret Restaurant Recipes 2, you will keep yourself busy making delicious recipes forever without incurring the cost of eating out. All are must have books!

I shelled out $24 bucks earlier in the year for the QVC book because they were supposed to be "exclusives". Now several of these show up this book 6 months later. I also prefer the restuarant recipes to the other recipes but how many hamburger "recipes" do you need. There's like 4 or 5 in here just describing how to do the toppings. This was very disappointing to me. My advice would be to look at the index before purchasing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Resource For Cooks, February 21, 2010

For those readers whose New Year's Resolution is to save money this year, Todd Wilbur's new cookbook, Top Secret Recipes Unlocked, is a godsend. The cookbook gives the average person the tools to recreate their favorite restaurant offerings at home, allowing them to save money and impress those they are cooking for.

The cookbook is broken down by restaurants. Some of the restaurants represented include Panera Bread, Boston Market, Burger King, Carnegie Deli, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Outback, KFC, Starbucks, Taco Bell and even Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. Each recipe is given a page, with a paragraph preceding it that gives any tips that let the chef overcome any challenges. Many recipes are followed by a section called Tidbits that give further tips and things to consider. The recipes are clearly written and easy to follow.

This book is recommended for all readers, especially those who are cooks. Living in the hometown of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, I'm not sure anyone else can duplicate those heavenly treats, but most of the recipes are well within the expertise of the average person. Using these recipes is a great way to impress friends invited over for a meal.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of all of his books, January 7, 2010

I ordered three of his books, this one was by far the best. Most of the recipes really are better than you get at the restaurant. Honestly the donut recipe is more trouble then its worth. But the smoothie and chedar biscuits turned out great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, June 8, 2010
This review is from: Top Secret Recipes Unlocked: All New Home Clones of America's Favorite Brand-Name Foods (Paperback)
Lots of recipes, with detailed drawings on how and where to arrange the components of the food, so your end result will be just like those delicious menu items at your favorite restaurants.
Lots of recipes, plenty of information, so you understand what you're cooking, and how it will look, when finished.
I got this for one of my grown children, because they plan menus at a local restaurant. I was told this is a very useful book, by her! The chef!

I love to cook but I am nowhere near being a chef... so, I was pleasantly surprised that these recipes are so easy to follow. I'd buy this book if only for the Kozy Shack Rice Pudding recipe and feel like I got a sweet deal! The fact that I got the inside scoop for other sweet recipes is just a bonus for me. I can't believe I've got the recipe for Krispy Kreme Glazed Donuts... it will be the next one I try.

Todd, I don't know if you ever get to read these reviews... you're probably too busy in the kitchen... but I just wanted to say, "Thanks". I saw you on a morning show and you are very fun to watch... full of life and excitement. How much fun you must have doing this. I wish you all the best.

These Top Secret Recipe books are the best! We love them and buy every one of them. The recipes are fantastic. I am addicted to them. The Taco Bell Chicken Quesadilla recipe is dead on and we are addicted to it. Mine are better than Taco Bell, because I put more chicken and cheese on mine. :) Highly Recommend all of the Top Secret Recipe books! You will not be disappointed.
