It's great to see a show out there that shows the positive and fun side of guns. I also, think it's cool that they feature different calibers and brands. Overall, enjoyed the DVDs.

Better than you'd think....,

At first I wasn't sure if Top Shot was going to good. Because most reality TV shows are faked. If you want the real the deal, then this is what you are looking for.
The general concept of the show is pretty simple: 16 shooters are selected and divided into two teams, the Blue and the red team. The first half of the show is the team challenge, where the two teams compete to see which team will send a member home. Before each challenge, they have the team practice with the weapon(s) that will be used in the challenge. After the challenge, the loosing team goes to the Nominating Range, were they pick who will be facing off in the elimination challenge. The way they nominate, I think anyways, is unique. They set up circular targets with contestants names on them and shoot them with a handgun. Then the two players with the most votes go to the elimination challenge.... and only one will be coming back. Also, if you like to see stuff blown to smithereens in slow motion, then this is your show. If you have any interest in guns, then you will love this show. All in all, this show is realistic, entertaining, and just plain cool.

My hobby is shooting sports. Found this DVD series online. Never saw Top Shot on TV. Took a chance and purchased the first season. I have watched about half of the episodes. The first few episodes have more "drama" than shooting in a manner that (I guess) is typical of a show in which contestants compete against each other while living together in the same house. Eventually the shooting gets more complicated for the contestants and more interesting for the viewer. The shooting is nicely filmed with super slow motion shots of guns firing and targets breaking which are really neat to see. The super slow motion alone makes the purchase price worthwhile for me. What I found really interesting is my wife's reaction to the show. I began watching the series alone -- I didn't invite my wife to watch because I thought she'd have no interest. She happened by and became very interested in watching the series. We watch an episode each night and she really looks forward to it. I will definitely purchase subsequent seasons when they are available.

First, let me begin by saying I've never shot guns, but this show is still very engaging and fun. It's the best in reality shows--competition, real people, big egos, big heart, etc. It makes shows like Survivor pale in comparison. We missed seeing the first season on television last year, but caught the second season this year and really, really enjoyed it. The people on the second season (especially George, Gunny, Chris, etc.) just grab your heart and make you want to stand up and cheer by the season's end. We are only part-way through this first season, and our only regret so far is that it isn't longer, darn it. It's not as good as Justified (which is the best show on TV right now--to us) but it's still really a lot of fun to watch.

If your a fan of reality television, a fan of guns, a fan of seeing very difficult shots performed in an elimination style competition with 100k on the line... then this is for you! I missed the first season, got interested after seeing the second season on t.v. Ordered this, and have not been dissapointed. The challenges are different from season 2 if you saw that and it got you interested. The best feature in this set, no commercials! Have to love being able to watch a show and not be constantly interrupted.

Warning: Watching this show will make you want to go to the range!
I happened to catch the last couple episodes of Season One a few months ago just after it had ended (during one of History's marathons), and quickly started to like it. By that point in the show, there were only a few shooters left in the competition so I really got to see the best of the best. Then I started watching Season Two and knew I had to get more Top Shot. Also, my fiance hadn't seen Season One, but after (literally) forcing her to watch the first episode of Season Two, she was hooked, too. So we got it for a great price on Amazon and were watching it that weekend. The show itself is hard to describe. Sure, the shooting is what you really want to see when you first start watching, but after a time you really become invested in the competitors, too. I hate reality TV, and sometimes the in-house politics gets annoying, but once they get out on the range and display their skill, all that crap disappears for a while. I'd say it's split pretty even, half the show is goofy reality TV stuff, and the other half is shooting. After a while, some of the more annoying ones go away and you're left with a group of guys and girl that you can really respect. Essentially, if you're a weapons enthusiast in any way shape or form, or just love a good show of skill, Top Shot will not disappoint. Definitely worth the low price on Amazon.

Fantastic show -- great marksmanship competition,

After having endured my dear wife's "Top Chef" reality competitions for years, imagine my joy when I discovered a reality show that my son and I could enjoy! "Top Shot" Season One is outstanding entertainment that deals with two teams of marksmen. Only one man or woman can win the title of "Top Shot" and win $100,000.
The teams and individuals compete with many different firearms and weapons -- everything from slingshots (using 10,000 year-old technology) to the modern 9mm pistol, specifically the Beretta 92fs, the present sidearm of the US military. Each episode features one or more weapon, usually rifles and pistols, in a grueling marksmanship competition. There is drama and intrigue, since during each round the losing team must select two of its members who then must compete against one another in the elimination round, and the loser goes home. This is excellent entertainment that spotlights the honored skill of marksmanship. Men and women compete for the title of "Top Shot" and reality shows don't get any better than this. The cinematography in this one is gorgeous, as the competition takes place in the low desert. The competitors for the most part are engaging and enjoyable to get to know. Highly recommended for lovers of firearms and the outdoors. RJB.
