Gary Theroux is an Emmy-nominated TV writer who has created and written programming for Disney, PBS, CBS and others -- ranging from such three-hour specials as "Legends of Comedy" and "America in The '40s" to the 52-hour Billboard award-winning "History of Rock 'n' Roll." Winner of awards from Connecticut Public Television, The Connecticut Commission on the Arts and others, he spent 20 years as the Music & Entertainment Editor of the world's most-read magazine, Reader's Digest, creating, writing and producing more than 300 CD and DVD releases with cumulative sales topping 39 million copies. Other long-running credits: teaching music and broadcasting at UCLA and elsewhere; as a prominent entertainment historian; a local and national radio producer, programmer and host; as a comic and dramatic actor; the author of several books plus countless articles, liner notes, etc. Theroux maintains the massive Pop Record Research entertainment archives and is presently the managing producer and head writer of the multiple Emmy-winning TV talent showcase series "Community Auditions."
