A trek is a walk that takes people away from civilization into a place they could not reach if not on foot, and which requires them to rely on other skills than the mere perambulatory. With this book, a reader can walk the routes in spirit, and there's enough practical information to allow the planning of a trip when a place takes a hold on the imagination. It features Asia (Nepal, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Tibet and Turkey), Australasia, North and South America (from the Appalachian Trail to Patagonia), Europe (from the Alps to Corsica), and Africa (from Morocco to Namibia).

This book allowed us to muse through the pages for weeks and then decide to spend a fortune on a plane ticket, and now we are in training for 100-miles of trekking in Patagona. We can't wait.
