Threatened by relentless cold and civilization's harsh intrusion, they endured with dignity and laughter.
TOP OF THE WORLD This is the extraordinary international best seller of adventure, danger and incredible courage among the Polar Eskimos... a people whose buoyant happiness and gaiety defy six months of darkness, whose generous code of honor among friends includes the loan of a wife or a knife...

I love this story of the eskimos of long ago. They are such happy people even though they have the hardest life. I buy this book whenever I can on Amazon or Ebay and give them away, so others can appreciate this story. They have such a simple life, but take great enjoyment in every moment. I think the people of today could learn a lot from these people and not take anything for granted.

I was looking for this book for some time, but I was afraid about the condition it would be, because it was an old edition. I was surprised by the good condition the "used book" arrived. The book itself is great!

Although some of the food items these people ate almost made me gag, I loved the story. They, in their innocence, adapted to their world and got along quite well without the interference of the white man's ways. This story made me thankful to have been born in America during the era that I was!

Top of World by Hans Ruesch (Purchased 05/17/2009),
This review is from: Top of World (Paperback)
I am well pleased with my purchase.
The quality of the book is good, as advertised. It has been many years since I'd read the 'Top Of The World'. I've had to measure and restrain from reading the entire book in one sitting. I am not being disappointed. |
