Product Description

JoeBlow Sport II Floor Pump

The Topeak Joe Blow Sport II Floor Pump gets your tires ready to go, wherever the road may take you.

TwinHead Technology

With Presta valve internals on one side and Schrader valve internals on the other, this easy-to-use dual pump head design makes tire inflation chores a snap. No adapters or swapping out pump head parts, simply choose the side you want, press onto the valve stem, flip the locking lever, and start pumping. The original TwinHead dual sided design makes adapters obsolete.

there's a couple of problems with these pumps, as other reviewers have pointed out for this pump and the original sport.

- the head can be difficult to get a seal with, especially on the presta side. it may take several tries before being able to get air to flow,

- the dual head is large, making it difficult to get onto smaller wheels with closer spokes,

- the hose material is a cheap plastic, not rubber - it quickly starts to crack wherever it's bent (near the outlet and where it's stored over the handle) and soon blows out.

their support company, todson, refuses to warranty the hose even though it's a material defect. instead of paying them a third to half the cost of a new pump, get 3/16" fuel line from your local auto parts store. fits perfectly, will last a lifetime, and only costs about two bucks!

This pump has been working great for me. I'm always a little surprised though when sellers don't list many specific details about the pump, so I'll include a few features below.

Here are a few things I like about it:
- All metal base, very stable
- Air valve level is also metal
- Wide handle with a rubber grip
- Comes with bladder and ball adapters
- Pump has a place to store both adapters
- Head was just able to fit the valve on my son's 6" plastic wheels

Things that would be nice to have:
- Pressure release valve
- Pressure gauge could be a little smoother/more accurate

For $33, it is hard to go wrong. There are better pumps out there for more money, but for the price this pump fits the bill.

If you're undecided between this Topeak and the Serfas TCPG, read on. I purchased this pump about a year ago and have loved the ease of operation. I mostly use the Presta end for my TT bike, but I have on occasion used the Schraeder side for car tires and an old mountain bike. Both valve adapters work flawlessly; more on this later. What makes this pump better than the Serfas TCPG? Two things: a lot more air goes into the tire per pump action, and the Topeak is much easier to pump, particularly when you approach 100psi. I have been able to make direct comparisons between these two pumps on multiple occasions and the difference is actually quite dramatic. It takes me half the time to pump up my 700x23 on the Topeak than on the Serfas, and on the Serfas, I'm pushing as hard as I can on those last few pumps to get the tire to pressure. I'm fairly light, around 150lb, and at times my feet are off the ground and I'm using my body weight to get that last bit of air into the tire. On the Topeak, the last few strokes are a bit tough but I'm still well within my means.

As for some people having difficulty with air leakage on the presta side, or having difficulties removing the pump adapter from the valve, the solution is surprisingly simple: don't unscrew the valve tip all the way. Loosen it just enough so that when you push down on the tip with your hand, you hear decent deflation airflow. The closer the tip is to the base of the valve, the easier it will be to remove the pump adapter after you're done. This is because if the tip is unscrewed all the way, it tends to get stuck above the rubber gasket inside the pump adapter. The amount you can unscrew the tip varies per valve, so unscrewing the tip all the way might not affect things in all scenarios.

I use this pump once or twice a week and it lasted about 10 months. The Presta valve side of the Twinhead will no longer depress the valve body, so air cannot get in the tube. After taking it apart and looking at it, it is pretty poorly constructed of plastic and definitely not designed to last a while. And since there is no way to contact Topeak about a warrantee/replacement I doubt I'll ever buy another product from them again.

This Joe Sport II pumped replaces the original Sport pump and the only difference I see is the metal air footing on this II model versus the plastic footing on the original plus this is slightly taller. It's very sturdy after a month of usage with only one problem--the presta side leaked air even though it was locked. I managed to fix it by reinserting a Schrader valve on the other side and the pump worked well again. Overall it's very sturdy with good balance and a thick stem and valve.
This pump could be improved if the gauge is higher for easier viewing plus some kind of compartment to store the included accessories (needle and cone tips).
This pump has also been used on longer presta valves with no problems and the Schrader side has worked flawlessly.

I really like this floor pump. That being said, I haven't used a floor pump that I didn't like. The gauge is very helpful, pumping is quick (as compared to a hand pump), and the unit includes a needle for pumping up soccer/football/basketball balls. Construction feels sturdy and it's fairly easy to pump up my road bike tires up to 120 PSI.
I do have problems connecting the Presta side. I've placed the Presta valve into the connection, locked it in place, and it won't pump. I have to unlock and relock it about 3-4 times before it engages and I can start pumping air into the tubes.
