DALMAC tested,

This review is from: Topeak DynaPack Bicycle Seat Post Mount Bag with Fixer (Sports)
I bought this for my first 5 day, 350 mile bike trip; The DALMAC. It passed the test and so did I. I liked the fact it had enough room for storage of anything I might need for the day. It also comes with a rain cover, which came in handy. It is easy to take on and off. It is also portable enough to bring with you when you lock up your bike and go into town. I wanted to buy the bigger version, but I am glad I stayed with this one for it's lighter weight. Go Bike Go!!!

Bought this 8/11/08, it died 12/30/09. The zipper partially failed early on, only one of the two pulls would work. The bag velcros to a loop of heavy wire or rod, which is held together with a tongue that has a spring-loaded button to secure it in a plastic sleeve. The sleeve attaches to the seatpost with a metal bolt. I went over a bump and the bolt pulled through the plastic, and the bag fell off. I had to duct tape the sleeve to the seatpost to get the bag home. The bag had the usual stuff in it: spare tube, patch kit, minipump, multi-tool, tire levers, CO2 cartridge, rain jacket, a couple of energy bars, some bandaids, and the little roll duct tape that got me home. Apparently too much weight for the bolt.
The aero design and ease of on/off are very nice, though. I will probably buy another but never fill it more than half-way. Heavier small items I will carry in a Bento Box or my jersey.

I own two other Topeak racks with bags and this has become my favorite. I actually owned the original design for this rack made by a different company until I destroyed it by putting too much weight on the rack. You should only use this rack/bag combo if you just want to carry some extra things like a lock, a wallet, lunch, or something like that. Anything heavy or bulky - forget it - go with a regular seatpost rack. The nice thing is that with the push of a button, the rack and bag come off. Then, if I need to carry something heavier, I just attach one of my other racks on the seatpost above the fixer. Alternatively, if I don't want any weight at all, I just leave the very light fixer on the post and then attach a small bag with my pump and patch kit. If you use your bike to do everything and go everywhere, this rack bag is perfect if you want a little more room, but don't want the heavy weight of a postrack and bag.

This is precisely the product that I was looking for and didn't know it existed. My bike store did not have anything like it. It is very well built and has features that demonstrate the designers understand bike riders' needs. I did have to get a bit creative when I installed the product because my bike seat wasn't really high enough above the back wheel so that the bag would clear the rear wheel. I had to put a wedge into the mounting bracket that would cause the rear of the bag to tilt upward and then I put 1/4 inch dowels on both sides of the bag above the mounting bracket which surrounds the bag. Both of those changes gave me one inch clearance above the rear wheel. There isn't any good way to know ahead of time if you will have this problem because the manufacturer's web site does not provide enough dimensions for you to check your bike ahead of time. I would say that if your seat isn't raised very much, you may have this situation. Be prepared to be creative like I was or accept that you may have to return the bag. If you can get it to fit, it really is a very good product. Had the manufacturer put an adjustment onto the mounting ring, there would not have been this problem. But in spite of it, I really do like the product.

I purchases this bag about seven months ago. The zipper for the main compartment had two clasps. One failed and fell off about a month ago and the second yesterday. I have used the bag on average a couple times a week and have not abused it. With the zippers for the main compartment now gone the bag is useless. I expect bikes and their accessories to last much longer this.
If I would have written this 6 weeks ago I would have likely given it five stars. It is a nice bag, but with a bad zipper.

Amazon's product description shows "5.28 l / 322 ci Capacity". That should mean you could pour the contents of more then two and a half 2 liter bottles into this thing. Do not expect to do that. The outside dimensions come pretty close to the 322 cubic inch descriptions, but that is not capacity. You might end up with 250 cubic inches inside. Also the outside dimensions are smaller then the the Amazon description - which may be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. Overall length (including the seatpost bracket is a bit under 16". Width is about 6.4" and Height is 6". This is a good bit smaller then the Amazon description and the manufacturer's description, but Topeak is somewhat closer to reality: [...]
The whole top part of the clam shell design is separated from the bottom by a mesh with zipper access. You'd have to permanently cut that out if you want to get taller items in. The Dynapack is nicely made, the Fixer is a great feature and I might be able to get one 32 ounce yogurt container in if I cut the top mesh out. But I doubt I'll get two yogurt containers in sitting upright. Maybe if I turn one on it's side........

Git tired of cramming too many things into under-the-seat bags, so moved up to this gem. Holds TONS of stuff (cell phones, xtra tubes, multi-tool, energy bar, etc), and stays securely in place. Removes quickly and easily for storage. Rain cover is great too. Get one today!!

I purchased this bag for use on a week long bike ride in Wisconsin. I wanted something that would carry a tube, small pump, rain jacket, cell phone and maybe an energy bar. This accomplished that. It is light, water proof and seems sturdy. Worth the price and easy to install.

I am vertically challenged (5'5" LOL) and only have about 2 inches of seat post showing on my bike. The bag would not fit on the seat post and allow me to pedal. But if you have some seat post showing(3 inches +) this would be a great product. There's plenty of room in the bag, good quality and comes with a rain cover (so don't buy an extra one unless you want a spare). I wish it would of fit.

The velcro holding the bag to the cage is inadequate and has freed several times during road rides. Still considering returning this product. I would hate to consider using this with a mountain bike on rough terrain. Perhaps I'll modify this thing with some snaps.
