Just a bit too clever,
By J. Alfred Bloomington III (Bloomington, MN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Topeak HP 25 WhiteLite (Sports)
This device produces a decently bright light and the AA battery power is a plus. It has two light modes: steady-on and blinking. It operates via a single spring-loaded switch that you flick over once to turn it on steady, then again for blink, and a third time for off. The switch mechanism appears to be one of those clever magnetically-operated things: there is no physical connection between the switch and the rest of the battery/light/circuit assembly. The switch, however, is the device's Achilles' heel. The switch-spring-magnet apparatus is sealed in plastic at the end of the housing. Mine developed some kind of 'hitch': the switch stopped returning to home by itself after flicking it. Result? The light wouldn't turn off without banging it on end. I don't know what caused the switch to malfunction. I'm treating it with WD-40 and Liquid Wrench teflon spray, but so far the results are not hopeful.
