Used this to numb areas prior to laser hair removal - worked like a charm!

I was unsure how well this product would work for the purpose of numbing during blood draws and shots but was very plesantly surprised!

The cream is expensive but well worth it, a little goes a long way so I expect the tube to last all six treatments!

I have been blessed with many moles (Seborrheic Keratosis) on my body and finally decided to have a dermatologist remove them via electrocautery. Anyone who knows about this procedure, where the the doctor uses a metal probe to shoot an electrical current directly on the mole, knows that there is pain and considerable discomfort involved. The doctor told me about LMX 4% but others told me it was ineffective. When I looked online, I saw this LMX 5% cream and bought it. It is a blessing. I mark the area of my body to be treated and one hour before the procedure, I rub a layer of the cream in and then apply a second coating/layer. It is important NOT to rub this second coating in; just let it sit on the skin. After application, I put plastic wrap on top and keep it there until the doctor takes it off to begin treatment.

It is a laborious process but this cream is fantastic at significantly numbing the skin. In fact, on occasions when the doctor strays from the treated area and zaps a mole that I failed to cover with LMX5, I really feel the sting.

I wish it weren't so expensive but I'm glad it is available. It will take close to a year for me to complete all my treatments, but I won't take a treatment without prepping with this cream.

I did not know that 5% existed -- it is not offered at my pharmacy. The price from you is 6 dollars less than the large chain pharmacy charges for 4%.

I use this cream before electroylsis and it works well as long as I make sure to apply it a full half hour before treatment.

I have recently had hand surgery and my skin itches under my cast. Very carefully I applied some LMX 5% cream and it relieved it immediately.

I was unsure how well this product would work for the purpose of numbing during blood draws and shots but was very plesantly surprised! This product is great and gets you completely numb within about 30 to 45 mins. I am a fainter and can't stand any sort of needles so products like this are a life saver and especially for little kids who really dislike shots as well. great for anyone who needs it for numbing purposes.

I used this cream when I was having a really severe allergic reaction that my doctors were having difficulty getting under control with oral medications. This cream is the only thing that kept me from clawing my own skin off in my sleep just from the itchiness of the reaction. It's important to note that it's VERY very important to apply according to the directions. When I first tried it, I applied it the same way I would smear cortaid on a bug bite - just rubbed some on and crossed my fingers. It worked a tiny little bit. Then I tried applying it according to the directions (after reading some reviews), and it worked amazingly. I was using it on my ankles and feet and after applying it properly, I could kick the coffee table and barely feel it (yes, that was how I tested it!).

The directions have you using a fair amount of cream, but don't be deterred - you actually use a *lot* less in the long run. If you just apply it like any other topical cream, you'll end up reapplying it every 20 minutes because it's not going to work well. If you use more and apply it properly, you'll only need to do it once, maybe twice for the whole entire day. What you do is start with a small amount of cream - just apply a thin layer and rub it in very thoroughly, then apply a thicker layer (like a mask) and **do not** rub it in - let it sit on the surface until it soaks in by itself. Yes, it's a little inconvenient, but it's worth it. You can put something over it (like saran wrap) while it's soaking in just so you don't get it all over the place, but if you can rest or avoid the area until it soaks in then you can leave it open to the air.

Ok so just a lil bit of background, first i'm a transgirl and a certain part of my process is laser hair removal on my face. I've had 3 sessons so far and I ended up crying during my second one because of the pain. Its torture and I cannot leave that situation, I have to go through this. So i got this, put it on 30 minutes before my appointment and wrapped it in cling wrap while sitting in my car. I had my appointment and the pain was there but so much less that I could have gotten that done all day long and still been ok. So yeah this a must get if you're getting laser hair removal.

I've used before my laser hair removal sessions and was generally pleased with the anesthetic effect that resulted. Of course, everyone must be careful not to overuse lidocaine products..

After applying the product as described in other reviews (one thin layer worked in; a heavier layer that sits on the skin and is covered by cellophane) one hour before the tattoo led to a really good experience in the chair. Not the fault of the cream but a note of caution - when you don't respond to the natural pain while getting inked the artist doesn't have any feedback and thinks it's OK to go 100% speed wise. This led to significant bruising of the muscle in addition to the healing process of the skin. FYI - I've had about 50 hours of chair time and this was the worst bruising episode (admittedly it was a Koi done in Japanese style which was heavy color driven, so that may have had another factor).
That said I'll never get another tat without this stuff if I can help it.
