I love this product! It works especially well since I home educate. You just type in your list words for the week and the program designs the games and tests around the words YOU choose. My 2nd grader loves it and thinks spelling is much more fun now. I would definitely recommend this product.

I bought this for my second grader. It will fit with anyone's spelling book. They have thousands of words that you choose from to make your weekly list and then it makes spelling games from those words. If they do not have the word you can request it and they send it to you. The graphics are great and it will last us until she is in the fifth grade. Great deal!

I like that you can create multiple lists. I have one with sight words for my little one and another with more difficult words for my advanced 1st grader. If your child is not a fluent reader, they will not be able to use most of the mini-games, since the word clues are generally given by showing the word definition. My 1st grader can do this with no problem. My preschooler uses only one section of this program. For her, I choose the mini-game where she sees a scrambled sight word and hears the word spoken by the computer. She then has to click and drag the letters into the correct order to spell the word. This is helping her with recognition of her sight words and her ability to spell them properly.

I know that some people did not like the fact that you have to enter the words yourself, but it did not bother me. It goes quickly and you can add your own words and definitions. For instance, my daughter has to write reading reports including the genre of the book chosen. "Genre" was not on the list. I was able to download an upgrade and enter it myself. I can also edit definitions of words on their list. For example, for "fairy," I added the name, Tinkerbell as part of the word clue. I also edited the definitions of the days of the week. They identify Sunday correctly as the first day of the week. My daughter, however memorized the days of the week starting with Monday. I was able to edit the definitions so that she was able to identify the clue with the correct word. I also like that in order to them to get the word correct on the spelling test, they have to capitalize proper nouns and cannot capitalize words that are not proper nouns.

I really like the flexibility of this program. It's worth the time spent to enter the words.

"Over 1,000 spelling words per grade" Ok, I will assume that is true, but when there is no way to see what those 1,000 words are it is of little use. You have to enter the words you want from whatever list you have or you create and hope they are on the list. You cannot view the list, there are no default lists and if you cannot read the prompts the program is useless. It gives the definitions for the words then you need to type the word. UMMM, my 1st grader is pretty advanced, but she cannot read the dictionary definitions on her own. For her to use it I would have to sit by her and read everything with her and have her stuggle to read all the text. Not worth the time and frustration so my copy is going straight to the trash. I disliked this program so much I saved the box by the computer to remember to come here and post a warning to others to save their money.

I am soooooo sorry i bought this product. I have to agree with the writer who says the definitions are way too advanced for most kids and will require a massive amount of assistance from parents. Definitely NOT kid or parent friendly. The words utilised are all created by you, which forces you to ask...what's the point of this program?

Please save your money and purchase another program. I am holding out hope that there are better ones out there somewhere.

I was excited to receive this product to help our children become better spellers. However there is no option to just play based on the "1000" words in the game memory. There are no default spelling lists by grades and no way to import lists. If you are using spellings lists from school than you will do fine but if you are expecting a game to help your spellers develop on their own time then this game is more frustrating than helpful.
