Long Awaited and not disappointed,

Not a collection of "real" covers, but a clever satire of a concept album. A young Hans VanDenburg finds an LP cover in a music store missing the vinyl. He obsesses over it for years after hanging the cover on his wall, then as an adult, creates the "missing" music of the fictional bands from this fictional album. It's another great album from this (im)mature Dutch band, and they sound as wonderful as ever. Their sound has definately matured over the years, and Hans is still writing tongue-in-cheek acccessible pop music. There is only one song on this release sung in Dutch, and it's not the best track. But there are some really catchy hooks on this release including "BdBdBd" and "Superman is Back". This is a Dutch -only release, so you'll need an all-region DVD player to play the DVD included with this CD, but it's worth it, having brand new additional live tracks including a non-CD track. In closing, check out the Title on the spine of this CD and it's listed as "discovered by Gruppo Sportivo".

it's quite remarkable that, after so many years, so many ridiculous professional disappointments and public indifference, hans (and peter and max [not peter max]) can fashion such a remarkably upbeat, hilarious, and pop-perfect confection such as topless 16. a brilliant "concept album" for which the concept exists only on paper and not on plastic, the album is up there with gruppo's best. "superman is back" is an all-time arms-swaying-in-the-air anthemic classic, timed (in perfectly awful fashion) with christopher reeve's sad demise. "i worry every day" and "glad we missed it" (which actually stems from the sombrero times sessions), are sublime pop fizz. even when the songcraft goes down a notch, the production and performances sprint to first place at the finish (i'm thinking of bdbdbd). buy this album...please!

However, the DVD will not play on region 1 players. A huge disappointment for 30 clams.Silly me. They're not covers.
