5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have For Toppik/Xfusion!!!
Ignore the bad reviews on this product. If you currently are, or intend to be a Toppik or Xfusion user, then this product is a must. I've been using the original Toppik since 2001 and the "shaker top" application method simply sucks. It is especially awful if you require significant coverage (i.e. your hair is very thin to bald in spots) because you cannot control the...

2.0 out of 5 stars over priced and uneven spray
Have to be real careful using this applicator. To achieve that even look, have to spend some time doing light coats over and over the same area like you're painting a car. The hard part about it is you're pumping the applicator and may squeeze little harder or faster then previously. It's not like an aerosol can spraying at the same speed. Sometimes it'll spray more than...

Ignore the bad reviews on this product. If you currently are, or intend to be a Toppik or Xfusion user, then this product is a must. I've been using the original Toppik since 2001 and the "shaker top" application method simply sucks. It is especially awful if you require significant coverage (i.e. your hair is very thin to bald in spots) because you cannot control the "shake" amounts. It always clumps and looks bad/fake/weird. This applicator rectifies that problem by evenly distributing the product. Yes, it may take more passes to get the same effect as the shaker top, but it gives you way more control. And your arm doesn't get as tired as the shaker, especially if you have to hold a mirror to get the back at the same time. For $10, this applicator has made my use of Toppik much easier and, subsequently, more frequently than I used to use the product. If this applicator would have existed years ago when I bought my first bottle of Toppik, I would have happily bought it then too. It's worth the cost.

2.0 out of 5 stars over priced and uneven spray, April 13, 2009

Have to be real careful using this applicator. To achieve that even look, have to spend some time doing light coats over and over the same area like you're painting a car. The hard part about it is you're pumping the applicator and may squeeze little harder or faster then previously. It's not like an aerosol can spraying at the same speed. Sometimes it'll spray more than what you want leaving spots on the scalp making it look obviously freaky. Taking out the spot and trying to redo the application can be time consuming. Over priced pump applicator that doesn't guarantee an even spray each time. Hope you don't have a lead finger.

2.0 out of 5 stars works well until it gets clogged, December 5, 2007

This is pretty much a must-have product if you use Toppik hair fibers. It helps you spray the fibers with a finer degree of control when using it on the front of your scalp.

Unfortunately, it will get clogged fairly easily after only a few months of use and you will have to buy another one because there is no way I have found to clean it. I am already on my 5th one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Toppik Maximizer spreads product more evenly than shaking it on, February 5, 2010

Using the maximizer helps to lightly spread the Toppik more evenly. This avoids clumping it on. Be sure to have the small, 10.3 gram size bottle on hand because that's the only size the maximizer will fit. You can buy the large size and save money, by pouring the Toppik out of the large size, into the small one, by removing the top grate.

3.0 out of 5 stars Spray applicator sometimes works well, but not always, May 21, 2010

I love the idea of the spray applicator, but after using it for a few months, it no longer sprays as well as it did when it was new. The function is uneven. Sometimes it works well, other times nothing comes out of the sprayer even though the container is half full. It definitely does not work well when angled to reach an out of the way spot. I often check to see if it is clogged by removing the sprayer and sticking a pin into the openings. I hope they come up with an improved model.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic gadget, with a terrible flaw., September 5, 2011

This review is from: Toppik Spray Applicator (Misc.)
To me, the spray applicator is essential. Without it, I probably wouldn't even bother with Toppik. It makes applying it far easier and PRECISE. Being able to aim where you want the product to go is light years away than doing random sprinkles. In this respect, it is highly recommended.

However, there is one massive problem. It won't last you more than a month. Really. If you hope to keep on using it, you'll have to buy another, and another, and then another. The reviewer down who said he is on his fifth one isn't kidding. The first time one of them stopped working after a few weeks, I thought maybe I had done something to damage it, so I shrugged and bought another. Same thing happened. So I bought another - this time, I treated incredibly gently. After about a month, the hissing of air whenever you pressed it started again and I had to get another.

It's almost as if they build them to fail so they can keep selling them to you. I'll be looking for alternatives because it's unfair to have to keep spending so much on the same damn thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must not be tilted while spraying!, September 4, 2010

Make sure the applicator + bottle are upright & NOT tilted one bit, or else the fibers will come out uneven & in clumps. So instead of tilting the bottle to aim at your specific scalp region, tilt your head instead. This is the secret. I just upped its star rating from 3 to 4. And I just dumped in Nanogen fibers to use with this applicator and will report my findings here. Apparently, Nanogen fibers are way superior to Toppik's.

I was skeptical, but it does work great. I use this mostly for the frontal area. Takes a little practice, but then does a nice job.

3.0 out of 5 stars Toppik Applicator, July 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Toppik Spray Applicator (Misc.)
Before ordering this applicator, make sure you are ordering the correct size of the Toppik Hair Building fibers. I bought the .36 oz container and the applicator does not fit. The instructions say to screw off the shaker top from the container, however this cannot be done on this size; I even had my husband look at it to make sure I wasn't missing something on the shaker top. The applicator does not indicate what size container it can be used on, so if anyone else can provide that information - it would be helpful. Now I have an applicator and cannot use it until I decide if I want to purchase larger size of the fibers.
