Editorial Reviews

Review

Praise for the Toradora! anime:

"A genuine, nuanced tale about friendship, love and family, pretty much unrivaled by its contemporaries." —ANIME DIET

"Toradora! is a lot like it’s subject matter: In turns hilarious, rambling, confused, charming, and foolish, but ultimately a worthwhile and heartwarming experience" —ANIME-PLANET

The hilarious battle between Taiga the "Palmtop Tiger" Aisaka and the school's most popular "Ami-chan" goes on in the fourth volume, in which the two girls compete in "Taking Takasu tournament" (meaning a swimming match) to decide which should spend summer vacation with Takasu - even though Taiga strongly denies any romantic feelings toward him. And Taiga cannot swim.

This installment's story is mostly about the two strong-minded girls' rivalry and Yuuji Takasu, who, while trying to help Taiga, still doesn't know what propels Taiga to save him from Ami (whom she calls "idiotic Chihuahua"). Of course, WE sense there is a change going on inside of Taiga, whose true feelings are still mystery to herself.

The book wraps up with an episode about the main characters going on a trip to Ami's comfortable summer house, and a short extra (with a bit of a Yu-Gi-Oh parody), in which a boy who loses in a card game must ask one embarrassing question to the girls. As expected, Minori Kushieda gives the best answer.

The main story about the complicated romances between Taiga, Yuusaku, Ryuuji and Minori gets slower, but with illustrator Zekkyo's cute artwork, the fourth volume of "Toradora" is an entertaining read.
