Book Description

TORBREK...and the Dragon Variation: an adventure story with daring deeds, dragons, friends, foes and romance - and no darned elves.

When Tor saves the Princess from the terrifying, fire-breathing dragon and delivers her to the handsome knight she is destined to marry, nothing is quite as it seems; the dragon is overweight and hasn't breathed fire for years; the Princess and her supposed suitor don't hit it off; and Tor shouldn't be in the rebel cavalry at all because she's a woman disguised as a man. Which doesn't help when she is attracted to a fellow soldier...

Meanwhile, studying the records of the legendary Hundred Knights, cold-blooded agent Corfe unearths a secret about Tor that even she is unaware of, a secret that makes ruthless King Skardroft very interested in her, and will change the outcome of the battle for the kingdom.

Full length novel: 92,000 words, by the author of TRAV ZANDER (sequel to Torbrek), REMIX, REPLICA and ICE DIARIES.

Formatted for Kindle Format 8 - fonts/font sizes can be changed on newer Kindles such as the Paperwhite.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Torbrek...and the Dragon Variation is the first novel I wrote, and goodness, it was fun. It's the novel I learned to write on, and I've revised it many times since. The heroine, Tor, has eyes like my daughter's, capable of changing to blue, grey or green to match what she is wearing.

I was reluctant to leave the characters, so went on to write a sequel, Trav Zander. Since then, I've moved on to contemporary fiction with no regrets - but the nice thing about fantasy is that the stakes are higher. Make an enemy, and he won't just cross you off his Christmas card list; he may well try to kill you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lighthearted fantasy read May 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
"Torbrek" is a very enjoyable, light fantasy read. The characters are interesting and although it doesn't deviate from the fantasy formula there are enough twists to make it fun. The reason I give it only 4 stars is because I felt the author didn't take enough advantage of the twists. I thought the relationship between Torbrek and Skardroft was very interesting and I wish that had been more developed. I also found that the resolution of Torbrek's secret was far too simple and quick. Again, the author could have taken better advantage to develop the situation. Overall, though, it is a fun, exciting adventure tale.

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable read May 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I found this book on the Amazon free list and am very glad I did!I was an enjoyable read that I could not put down! Torbrek is trained by a grandfather to become one of the hundred knights. Trobrek goes to rescue a princess and ends up the master of a dragon. There are adventures, an evil conqueror with a sentimental side to him, romanic issues, battles, and a very likeable protagonist. I am ready to read more about Tor and the dragons.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read from Lexi as usual April 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Lexi mentioned she had just published her first two books so I had a nose. Torbrek... is a fantasy about dragons and princesses and knights and battles etc. I am not all that interested in this kind of book, but since I loved Remix and Replica, I thought I'd check out the samples when I went to bed last night. Well, I'd got to 30% of the book before I was too exhausted and had to sleep . I read another third this morning before I had to go out visiting and finished it off this afternoon.
What a blummin fantastic book.
It was very light, but not childish at all. There were story strands with numerous characters but you never got distracted or confused (this is no Game of Thrones )
The main character is a girl who pretend to be a boy, but I was glad that that didn't go on for too long. She's no-nonsense and likeable.
I think I can officially say I need never download a sample of Lexi's books ever again (maybe if you do a Western, but other than that ... ) as she is superb storyteller and writer in 3 genres now.

A big thumbs up from me.

* I bought this from Amazon's UK site which is why it doesn't say "Amazon Verified Purchase"

More About the Author

For years, I resisted writing because I knew I'd never be as good as Jane Austen. Finally I realized no one is as good as Jane Austen - I started writing and couldn't stop. I've sold over 60,000 ebooks.

My first two novels are fantasy. The third, REMIX, is contemporary fiction with elements of crime, investigation and romance, and tells what happens when Caz Tallis finds a strange man asleep on her roof terrace. He turns out to be - no, I'm not telling you, you'll have to read it to find out... My fourth, REPLICA, is a thriller. Beth Chandler is unknowingly replicated in a flawed experiment, and falls for the man who is hunting her double. The latest is ICE DIARIES, a post-apocalyptic story with romance and humour.

My day job is designing and making jewellery and silver under my real name, Lexi Dick. I've made pieces for Margaret Thatcher, 10 Downing Street and Her Majesty the Queen.
