I have 4 of these 6t double locking units. I use them near the middle of the lifting range which puts the saddle about 18 to 19 inches high. This is perfect to get my truck off the ground and give me an inch or so of ground clearance to R&R the tires and do other work underneath the vehicle.

I don't need 6t worth of lift, but I like how these j/s have a wide lifting range. With these set for my range (as stated above), they are not teetering at the top of the range like others I've used in the past, but are comfortably in the middle. They are very stable and solid units.

It would be helpful if the info stated the lifting range of the units, not just the tonnage they can support as a pair.

Very bad and incomplete welds. Some of the welds are blotched. I ordered two sets and had to return them because I did not want to risk the car falling on me.

I also have some pictures attached for you to see.

The welds were shoddy and incomplete. There were gaps and cracks in the welds, with several potential failure points. I had to return them, since I wouldn't trust my life to that kind of poor quality.

These are great for my Trailblazer, but huge for my daughter's Camaro. So keep in mind, you may want to go with a smaller ton stand if you don't have a truck or SUV

Ended up buying the hein-warner 3 ton jack and looked at them side by side. These are only the size of 2 ton jacks and upon inspecting the welds, they didn't even seal the seam properly on one of the two. Did not trust life under a car with these so returned them. $50 bucks more when safety is concerned is well worth not having a crushed ribcage.

The product looks sturdy and strong when looked at from the outside of it, but once you look on the inside of the stands the poor welding becomes very obvious. The pieces of metal are only welded on one side (the inside) when it should be done on both sides, and the work is rough, almost cracked looking and filled with holes. I definitely would not feel comfortable having the stands hold up my Corolla. I uploaded some photos of what the welds look like right out of the box so you can judge for yourself.

The unique locking pin makes these worthwhile. However, when you read the instructions, it's not clear how to bend the "tab" to hold the supports in the frame. Best way is to take a big screwdriver and bend them inward. Can't believe they don't put that on the instructions, since it's not intuitive.

I've read various reviews on 3 ton and 6 ton jack stands, with and without the double locking pin. There has been some rumblings about poor welds. I uploaded a couple of pics (Amazon only posted one of them) of the poor welding job done on my stands. For me, as a mechanical engineer, this is unacceptable. These welds were certainly not done by a real, qualified welder or machine done and as a result are inferior. I will be returning these.

IT IS NOT SAFE TO TRUST YOUR LIFE WORKING UNDER A VEHICLE SUPPORTED BY THESE JACK STANDS!

It was not long ago that a set of 6 ton jack stands were rated at 6 tons EACH and NOT as a pair. Maybe 5 years ago I had bought some Goodyear Racing 6 ton jack stands from Sam's Club that cost $26 for the pair. AND they were rated 6 tons EACH. They were very well made but are now discontinued. Google "Goodyear Racing 6 ton jack stands" to see what I am talking about. It is pretty disgraceful that a company like Torin, in business for some 30 years, has lowered their standards to produce these worthless products. Maybe Torin's quality will improve now that they have a new 100,000 square foot facility in Ontario, California. Maybe Torin will make a better product in the future? Only time will tell.

I will not accept poor workmanship and neither should you. My safety is much more important and from what I have seen, Torin does not care about safety or quality. Otherwise, they would not try to sell us this inferior product for profit.

On a side note, Torin is not alone in producing this garbage. The Craftsman product is also now made in China as are so many others. Heck, they are all probably made in the same factory - just painted different colors with different stickers and packaging.
