Winter Heat for the Sega Saturn is a better game. Heck, ski jumping on that game for the Commodore64 was better than on this game. Avoid. Run away. It's not worth $20. It's not worth $5.

before i start, i have to say that before i bought this game my favorite olympic game was for sega genesis. All of the games before this one were terrible. all it was was button mashing in a couple of bad events with bad graphics. This game has very realistic graphics and courses that are actually kind of accurate to the real events. In this game you can play with up to 4 other players (why not more?) while taking turns.

The events that are available to play are also cool. You can play four different skiing events: downhill, super-g, gs, and slalom, all of which have the same controls but require different skills. You can play the large and normal hill ski jumping (both pretty much the same), luge, two and four man bobsled, three different distanced speed skating events, biathalon, cross-country skiing, and nordic combined. All of these events have unique controls that are realistic to the sport, like in ski jumping you hav to get your balance on the ramp and in the air with the left joystick, then time your jump and landing by pressing a. the best thing about these events is there is no figure skating (i hate figure skating).

You can play a competition with all 15 events, 9 events, or customize a competition with your own events. There are ten record holders for each event, and it is fun to try to break the records. There are four difficulty settings which will make the game last longer.

this game is not perfect, but 2k sports did the best job on an olympic game so far. Athlete creation and stats would add a lot to this game, but im not going to get picky. Fun game that will last for a while.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good game, February 21, 2006

If you like olympic sports this game is going to be fun. The graphics are excellent. Every event has it's own mechanics to dominate which makes it interesting...of course it is not a long game, to be played for hours, I mean just look to the olympics competitions: people go one or two times down a hill and that's about it! the competition is over!. That's what you're going to find in this game. They are immitating the reality. I recommend this game to be played with your family and friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Winter Game!!!!, February 9, 2007

I absolutely love this game. From the downhill ski jumping, to bobsledding & luge its a great challenging game. The controls are easy to use and master after a little practice. The graphics are incredible even on Xbox 360, it matches up with current games. Alpine skiing event is the hardest to beat, but can be done with patience and good toggle skills. Overall, a great game that will hold you over until the 2010 Winter Olympics.

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh Game about a great subject., January 24, 2006

This is a pretty game. This is a game with lots of events. Yeah! I have found the positive in this game. Ok, the real deal. THis game is pretty fu, but not really fun. You will not want to play it again and again. However, if you are using it to show your kids the gist of the olypics, or want the family to get into the spirit of the olympics, then jump in and enjoy yourself. Is it worth the price? No. Wait for the bargain bin, but only if you really got to have it for some reason other than playing a fun game.
