"An espresso shot of drama...",
By
This review is from: Torn Between Two Lovers (Hardcover)
This book may be only 184 pages but it packs a wallop in the HOLY CRAP department! This is a continuation of the soap opera starring (lunatic) Loraine, (like a bullet) Leon, (maddened) Michael, and (I need Jesus) Jerome. I was surprised at how short this book was. It's like he went `Project Runway" on us. Course, if I had to pick a supermodel to name this book after it would be Naomi Campbell; skinny and full of drama. I suggest reading `Big Girls Do Cry' and `Something On The Side' first because there is a TON of back story, and without it you'll be lost as Mel Gibson is in a AAA meeting.
While a lot of authors are good at creating the drama, Carl excels at it. He writes it so well that you are past the point of shaking your head at the characters and well into the frothing at the mouth, cursing, saying "WTF", realm. I won't give you any spoilers, but we finally find out who Big Poppa is, and talk about "it" hitting the fan! E-mail me if you figured it out before Carl tells us... I didn't. As with every Carl Weber book you have your "no, no, no, no, NO moments" as well as your "I need to grab my rabbit" moments. While being very sexual, this time it's more implied and not as explicit. Don't worry though because Carl makes up for it. Usually there is one, maybe two disturbed characters in a story. Not with Carl. Uh-uh... they ALL crazy! And they seem to be trying to out-crazy each other. Love has made us all do crazy things, but... really? REALLY!? Don't waste time trying to guess or figure out the outcome of anything in this book because you'll fail, fail, fail. Carl Weber has the drama down to a science and his books are a lot of fun to read. I only hope one day I can be near a book club that is discussing one of his books cause I got stuff to get off my chest!

Jerome, the root of all evil.,
By
This review is from: Torn Between Two Lovers (Hardcover)
After realizing in Big Girls Do Cry that her best friend Jerome secretly and single handedly plotted and executed the destruction of her marriage, Lorraine is heartbroken that she was duped into starting a new romance and kicking hubby Leon to the curb. Luckily their divorce is not finalized before Jerome's scheming was brought to light and never mind the fact that she has already given her heart to an old childhood pal, pretty boy Michael, Lorraine immediately decides to give her marriage a fighting chance since Leon has apparently been faithful all along.
With Leon struggling unsuccessfully to cure his premature ejaculation issue, before long Lorraine decides she can not go without Michael in her life, and bed. Subsequently Lorraine finds herself torn between two lovers literally when her lover knocks on her front door directly following her husband Leon finding out about their affair. Both men demand that she make a choice right then and there and that is exactly what she does. This novel would not be possible without Jerome. He is surely the root of all evil. It seemed that he deliberately or inadvertently had a major hand in every single scenario that went astray. I knew I did not like this character for a reason and exactly the type of person he is comes to light in this installment. I was shocked by him planting panties around Lorraine's house and thought that going too far but as we finish up this novel readers will realize that he is capable of anything, and most of all, can never be trusted. Surprisingly short but sweet is how Carl Weber kept it this go 'round. He was also sure to kept it juicy, drama flowing, and astonishingly unpredictable. The characters we have grown to love and hate all seem to step out of their normal personalities and that makes it all the more interesting. There are many peeks in this novel but the most prevalent of all is definitely finally finding out who Big Poppa is! I'm sure we all had our suspicions but seeing his name in black in white is just scandalous. To get the most from this novel I strongly recommend you first read Something On The Side and then Big Girls Do Cry. Happy reading!

This book was a great follow-up to Big Girls Do Cry... This book wrapped up all the lives of the major players, Lorraine, Jerome, Leon and Michael. Lots of interesting surprises throughout. I agree with the other reviews all of the characters in this book are CRAZY! Keep them coming Carl Weber...

Wow! Carl Weber's books just keep getting better! I knew that Torn Between Two Lovers would be good, but I had no idea I would be taken for this roller coaster ride!
Torn Between Two Lovers is a story about Loraine Farrow, a successful business woman we got to know in one of two previous books in the Big Girls Book Club Series, Big Girls Do Cry. Loraine is in love with two men....not too bad, right? Wrong! There are so many twists and turns to this story. I found myself talking to and about the characters out loud! Add together betrayal, a deranged stalker or two, a questionable psychiatrist and a backstabbing "friend," and you come up with an excellent read. In true Carl Weber fashion, Torn Between Two Lovers gave us drama that we could not wait to get to the end of. Of course, I look forward to what's next from Mr. Weber. 5 Pink Diamonds Connie of the SistahFriend Book Club

The Book, Carl Weber, the drama I'm rating a two,

I rushed through my other reviews but since this is my latest CW book read I'll take my time here. I have read many Carl Weber books as of late (first lady, something on the side, she's not the one, torn between two lovers, big girls do cry, so you call yourself a man and 2 others that I can't think of). At the beginning of each novel I'm all in, telling everyone OMG this book is good reading late and early just to find out what happens next. With that he's good, he can start the drama to suck you in. But at the end of each and every book I said each time I'm so done with Carl Weber books. The reason is because he just does too much! Too much drama, no far fetched foolery. There's no way in the world people can be that screwed up and be friends with people who are equally or even more screwed up. On top of that his leaning into the realm of homosexuality and transexuals... really?! Carl is that what women want to read about? He got me so worked up getting hot and bothered on sex scenes just to learn the man I thought was turning this tough life having woman out was a man. Or the faithful husband who's been cheated on unrelentlessly by his wife is actually sleeping with her best friend who is a man. Hello doorbell, no earth to Carl straight women don't want to read that crap or about the goings on of a homosexual man if we did we would buy that book not yours. At least make it clear from the beginning, and there's nothing wrong with hot sex scenes being that of man and woman who is not a best friend, ex lover or co worker. People cheat it's ok to right that no need to shock us with omg they both were really men, enough is enough. WHEW!!! THAT FELT GOOD.
Now like I said I've read CW books and yes I'm a fan. Time and time again I said I'm done but go back for more who's to say I wont again. But this time I'll be going back to his books with low expectations until I find a book that good through and through.

Very good and full of suspense unexpected ending!,
This review is from: Torn Between Two Lovers (Hardcover)
This book was very very very good. I have never read anything by carl weber until I first read a book called preacher's son which I enjoyed very much but it was really regular. Then I order this book and read it and this book turned out to be very good and makes me want to read more and more of his books, he is a very good writer his stories have so much mystery and drama in them and they keep you wanting more. This book is a page turner and the end of the book throws you for a serious loop.

As always Carl Weber never disappoint, you can never predict the ending.Torn Between Two Lovers was one of the best. A journey that was short, sweet and full of surprises.Toward the end I started reading slower trying to prolong the most surprise ending. What a way to end the trilogy. Suddenly Revived,

Torn Between Two Lovers by Carl Weber
This book revived me in such a way that I could have read it twice and I never read a book twice unless it's really important. I have been in a slump because it seemed that every book I picked up lately was slow or just down right boring. So I sitting I the DCBookDiva's stand at McPherson Square of one of her faithful customers come by to purchase some books. I am suggesting books to her and we are talking about all of the books that we both have read and she suggest that I read Torn Between Two Lovers. Low and behold I start reading this book and could not put it down. I really don't know which character is craziest, Jerome, Michael, Loraine or Leon. They are all tied into a web of lies and deceit and know one has any idea what the other one is doing. I don't want to tell the story but I got to give Mr. Carl Weber his props. This is one hell of a ride and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. The DC Reviewer is back I have certainly been revived.
