Book Description

"This is a terrifically absorbing, thought-provoking and finely crafted anthology encompassing a grand thematic structure. Bravo!" - Creature Feature Tomb of Dark Delights.

Torn Realities is not the typical Lovecraft Cthulhu anthology.

Torn Realities deals with Lovecraft's themes of forbidden knowledge, the idea that we are essentially untethered from the workaday world. Torn Realities explores lunacy-inducing creatures predating the dawn of man- keeping Lovecraft’s most famous theme (the idea of mind-boggling other gods) more general. The stories in this book actively seek the gray area in horror with tales of regular people in irregular situations.

Contains 19 Lovecraft inspired stories from:
JW Schnarr, Jamie Lackey , C. Deskin Rink, Philip Roberts,
C.M. Saunders , Clive Barker, Brad Carter, Kathryn Board,
James S. Dorr, Gerard Houarner, Kenneth W. Cain, Joseph Williams,
Mitch Richmond, Lee Davis, Matt Moore, Jessica McHugh, Bob Mustin,
Jeff Suess, and Allie Marini Batts

5.0 out of 5 stars The future is bright..... May 6, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The future is bright for fans of this oft-overlooked genre. These are some really well put together shorts, completely true to the title of the collection. Rawhead Rex!! Fantastic as always from C.B. For the fans on the lookout for up and coming talent, there is a virtual smorgasbord of it in this anthology. The ten-or-so page short, "Amsterdamned" killed it. Exactly the kind of gem one hopes to find when purchasing a collection like this. Buy it people!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to honor Lovecraft October 8, 2012

I enjoyed the range of works in this collection and the varying approaches to honor H.P. Lovecraft. Anytime I see mention of an anthology that uses Lovecraft as inspiration I become wary of it being overly focused on the Cthulhu mythos - but this was not. From Clive Barker's wonderful tale, to stories about loss and personal suffering this was an enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy, definitely worth picking up. :) May 17, 2012

I picked this up at Pulp Ark and finally got to sit down this week and read it. I'm certainly glad I picked this book up. It contains nineteen short stories, and each one was an interesting take on cosmic horror. The Clive Barker piece was fantastic (Rawhead Rex :) ), and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the stories by new writers. As a collection, it flowed nicely, and I would highly suggest giving this a read the next time you want cosmic horror that isn't Lovecraft or a blatant copy.
