I Can't Let Go",
By Miss. V. "botanika2" (Bay Shore, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Torn (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Wow...I will be the first to say i can relate to the story line in this book. After I read the book I just laughed to myself and said wow this story seemed to be about me and a relationship I was once in. So I could relate to how Mo felt about Quan. and the almost 10 Yrs. relationship they were in. Even with all the affairs, the arguments and yes a few knock-down drag out fights Mo and Quan felt they were in love with each other and were determined to make it work. But how much "make up sex" and "baby I'm sorry" can a relationship stand? And how much hurt will you cause each other before you decide it's time to call it quits and move on. Is it really love or just you are determined no one else is going to take your place and be with your no good man cause we in love (LoL). It's funny how we are afraid to move on until we do and that's when you see all the wrong that was in a relationship and than say "Damn I went through that Bulls**t!"

Keisha Ervin is the REAL DEAL!!!!,
By Ms. Dorable (Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Torn (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
I finally read the book I've been dying to read!!!! Boy ole Boy, it was well worth the wait. Torn is off the "MF" meter!!!
This book is dangerous. It had me memorized for three days. I was up all night and going to work very tired cause I just couldn't put it down. I was drawn to Mo's and Quan's story. I was very emotional right along with Mo. ...Talk about an emotional roller coster!!! My heart went out to her. Quan... such a dog!!! But, he had me fooled for a while too. On some parts I felt like Mo, "maybe they could work it out even though he didn't deserve her"! It was just something about him (LOL). But, Boss... OMG is all I can say (Read the book)!!! I don't want to ruin the story for those who haven't read it yet. So, I will stop right there. All I got to say is Keisha Ervin is the Queen of Urban Fiction Novels, NO DOUBT! This book has sealed the deal for me. She has 5 books that are FIRE!!!! I love her work! If you haven't read all of her books, I really can't understand what are you waiting for.

Torn could've been Torn in Half :-),
By Ebony EyeCU Reading "Ebony EyeCU Reading" (Detroit, MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Torn (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
As always Keisha Ervin did her thing in presenting us with a very realistic portrayal of a drama filled dysfunctional immature relationship built on materialistic things and lots of mind twisting make up sex. Read on as you follow the on again, off again, I love you today, hate you tomorrow, relationship of Mo & Quan. Once a sweet girl and even though well educated...... All Mo knows is being wifey to Quan, shopping and living the lavish life. Always a bad boy with deep pockets.......All Quan knows is he loves getting paper, buying Mo's affection, ensuring she keeps his good girl image and sleeping around in the streets. Put them together for 9 long years....three miscarriages, non stop arguments, baby mama drama, lots of abuse and you have "Torn". Mo just can't phantom her life without Quan so read on as she battles with herself on whether to stay or leave. Awesome story line but all in all............ Torn could've been torn in half and still have had the same affect but the lesson learned is good things come to those who wait :-)

Keisha Ervin did it again!!!,
By
This review is from: Torn (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Torn is another best seller from Keisha Ervin. Ms Ervin did her thing once again. I first got a sneak peak of this book from Street Love (Triple Crown Publications Presents). Monsieur aka Mo is torn between loving her boo JaQuan aka Quan of 9 years and leaving him. Her female intuition is telling her he is a dog but she is blinding by love. I love how Mina and Meesa made cameos in this book. I'm not going to give the book away you just have to go to your local book vendor and cop this book. To all avid readers, Keisha Ervin, and Triple Crown fans cop this book I guaranteed you will not be dissappointed.

Torn? Really? About What . . .,

This review is from: Torn (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Although I swore I would NEVER read another Triple Crown production because they are so ghetto, I picked up this book at the recommendation of a library book club. Disappointed does not begin to explain my feelings about this book.
For 270 pages, we (the readers) get to read about Quan beating Monsieur (the girl) and Sherry. The readers get to read pages of insensitivity on the part of Quan; we get to read about Quan's constant cheating and his overall azzhole appeal. A female would not be TORN; she would be stupid if she stayed with a man like Quan for 9.5 years and this is why: Quan's bad characteristics: 1. He cheated on Mo like 5 or 10 times 2. He never came home earlier than 3 or 4 in the morning because he was either selling drugs or cheating on Mo 3. He would not come home when Mo called him and this cost Mo dearly on one particular occasion 4. He often choked or beat Mo 5. He couldn't satisfy Mo sexually Quan's good characteristics (from the eyes of Mo): 1. He had plenty of money to keep her styling and profiling in designer gear 2. He had plenty of money to get her a nice house and car Other than money, Quan was a unsalvageable dog. No woman in her right mind would have stayed with Quan. Thus, for the author to focus 270 pages on their relationship just made the book a huge and tiring bore. Recommendation to the author: To make a character TORN worthy, you have to give the character likeable characteristics. Hustling drugs and walking around with drug money are not likeable characteristics. Pros: Good writing, great character descriptions Mo's and Zaire's relationship was off the hook; I loved them as a couple. Thus, pages 270-380 something were very well written; I was totally engrossed in that storyline. Cons: Too long, a one noted romance does not make for a good LONG book - better to make the book shorter if the romance is going to be one noted My other issue with the book is the constant need to mention designer clothing. I know we like being ghetto fabulous, but mentioning designer gear for no good reason just gets tiresome after a while.

Wow I can't even believe people actually rated this book 5 stars. Throughout the whole book there was stolen scenes from movies (baby boy, I like it like that etc) but this is not the first time this author has ripped off someone elses work so I'm not even hardly shocked overall this book was not a good read

Tore Me to Pieces,
This review is from: Torn (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
This is the first book I've read by Keisha Ervin and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised in her ability to craft a storyline that grabbed and held my attention. Lively characterization and intense dialogue. At times I wanted to choke Quan and I found myself rallying for Mo. Sherry turned out to be not who I expected so a lot of surprise there. Despite his age, Boss was the man of my dreams! After I got used to the St. Louis lingo and grew accustomed to the the designer names that were consistently dropped (some of which I had never even heard of), the book read with ease and with so much raw emotion with experiences that I could personally relate to. This is one of the few novels of this genre that I can say sincerely had a positive impact on my life. The author deserves accolades. Can't wait to read more of her work.

What we do for love...,
By Rochelle Williams "Baltimore ToyLady" (Baltimore, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Torn (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
I must say this is a very good book that I would recommend to any woman in a mentally or physically abusive relationship who doesn't have the strength to get out. This could be an eye-opener for those in such relationships and bring some hope to many. Sometimes your wants aren't what you need... Sometimes we end up saying shoulda, woulda, coulda and this book says it all... I love how there was a little bit of this and a little bit of that from various authors' quotes in this book... This book is the truth and I can say that many women go through this (puttin up with a mans ego) but hate to admit it. True love really doesn't hurt!
