5.0 out of 5 stars Torn
I'm truly impressed with LeToya's vocals after years of being overshadowed by Beyonce & Kelly Rowland. After all the turmoil Destiny's Child with through it's truly great they did break up. Otherwise her true talent would never been known. This is an amazing slow jam for any music lover. I just can't wait for the release of her debut album "LeToya".

3.0 out of 5 stars Acceptable
This song, Torn, really doesnt showcase any vocal skills. The range shown in this song is very limited, and after that bleak performance on 106& Park, it becomes very obvious why LeToya was "Torn" from the group. She definitley has a back-up singers voice, but definitley not lead. You can hear the Destiny's Child, in her singing, with her short and unfavorable runs,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Review for "Torn" by Letoya, June 1, 2006
By
This review is from: Torn [Vinyl] (Vinyl)
LeToya was always my favorite member of the popular all-Black "Destiny's Child" group, so I was excited when I heard she was planning on launching her own solo career. Luckily, she's living up to my expectations. It's true that she is no Mariah Carey, but she does have good vocals and the song is great, so who can complain? It does have a little "Destiny's Child" sound to it, but that may be what makes it so unique.

4.0 out of 5 stars LeToya, DO YOUR THANG GIRL!!!!!, June 8, 2006

I'm so glad that LeToya is finally coming out with her own music. I love this single even though I think the vocal production could've been a lot better. I was listening to this song on her website long before it hit the airwaves. I've also heard some of her other songs that were leaked onto the internet, and I must say that I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. LeToya is finally doing her thing and I'm so proud of her. One thing that I admire about her is she's driven and ready to take on whatever is coming her way.

Can she sing? Yes, I think she can. She doesn't have the best vocals in the world but she can surely sing in my opinion. One thing that really pisses me off is so many people are comparing her to Beyonce. She's not Beyonce, she's LeToya. I'm sick and tired of people always comparing every young female artist to Beyonce. Everyone is their own person. Don't get me wrong, I like Beyonce and all but, she wasn't the first great DIVA and she surely won't be the last.

Overall, I love this single and I can't wait for more to come. YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Made her big. Buy the album and you'll soon realize she was and still *is*..., December 21, 2007
This review is from: Torn (Audio CD)
...a ONE-HIT WONDER.

Really.

She is.

I promise!

I like her enough but I heard her CD and was thinking that 2-3 songs were hot. 2 I remembered; Torn and She Don't, to a lesser degree and extent.

The rest was tired ballads and watered-down club jammers for the club, that tried hard and succeeded sometimes in drowning out the vocals in the forefront.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this song!!!, July 4, 2006
This review is from: Torn [Vinyl] (Vinyl)
I was browsing bet.com and read there that she had the single. I watched the video and immediately fell in love with the song. I actually loved it so much that I purchased it on itunes. Now I have it on CD to play in my car, on my PC to play at home and on my mp3 player to play when I'm on the go. The song is great. Her voice sounds so good. She definitely was an integral part of the destiny's child sound - she sounds just like them. I'm glad she came out :)

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT SONG TO COME OUT WITH, June 19, 2006
This review is from: Torn [Vinyl] (Vinyl)
This song really says a lot. I was very shocked for Latoya to come out with a song this strong. I hope people do not try to compare her to Beyonce who is overrated. I think it is time for Latoya to shine and get for under the thumb of Destiny's Child Break Up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Playa why you hatin', May 31, 2006
This review is from: Torn [Vinyl] (Vinyl)
This is in response to 'thayes'(comment 5/25/06).The two most lame parts of your comment are:why is Letoya sampling the Stylistics, first off when a group or solo artist is admired their music is remastered and used in the present time.Secondly,Letoya is awesome as a solo artist. She has a beautiful voice and her talent truly shines since she is no longer with destiny's child. There is no reason for her to be overshadowed any longer. She deserves her own shine. She is a classy female, much blessings and success to Letoya.Lastly, as for beyonce-you don't have to display your body 98% of the time when their is true talent.Peace and smiles!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but needs polishing, June 6, 2006

I have truly enjoyed this song by LeToya. This is her opportunity to shine. In fact, every track that LeToya has recorded and has been leaked, I have truly enjoyed. With that said, I would like to address her live performances. I have seen Ms. Luckett on 106 & Park and also CD USA. On both performances she seemed nervous and it affected her vocals. I believe she will be moderately successful at this point and that she needs to work on her stage presence. However, overall she makes good music. She is new to solo work and she will need time to polish her work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait to hear more, June 8, 2006

Love it Love it Love it. I've always been a DC fan but I'd have to say that their biggest mistake was replacing Letoya with that walking stick Michelle. To me she has never really fit into the group. With all 3 of the current member releasing solo albums, hers being gospel it confirmed for me that this truly is not her genre of music. Kelly's album flopped big time and Beyonces was a smash hit out the gate. There were a few tracks on there that I like such as Dangerously In Love and Baby Boy but to me it wasn't great. Personally I think the success came more from her bootylious body than the tracks. Letoya slammed it home with "Torn" and I've downloaded some other tracks by her and they were equally as great. With Letoya and Beyounce releasing their albums around the same time (both in July I believe) I think she will give Beyonce a real run for album sales. *edit Beyonce's album has been changed to Sept release*.
