2.0 out of 5 stars AN ILL WIND
Let's give them an E for effort simply because of the risk they took in combining two genres: horror and action. Too bad the filmmakers couldn't do anything with this mix.

Notice how many new straight to DVD releases are not only being filmed in Romania, but set there, which explains the weather phenomenon of a tornado being caused by devilish dobaddies...

2.0 out of 5 stars AN ILL WIND, February 6, 2006

Let's give them an E for effort simply because of the risk they took in combining two genres: horror and action. Too bad the filmmakers couldn't do anything with this mix.

Notice how many new straight to DVD releases are not only being filmed in Romania, but set there, which explains the weather phenomenon of a tornado being caused by devilish dobaddies.

TORNADO's first big mistake was casting martial arts star Daniel Bernhardt in the leading role. He plays Josh Palladay, who as a boy witnessed the death of his family at the hands of killer tornadoes, but not before his father bestowed on him a strange looking necklace which turns out to be a talisman against evil. Josh is a tv camerman now as an adult and he is assigned to cover a gypsy uprising in Romania. Off he goes with the bullheaded, ambitious journalist Nicole, and soon he is involved in what appears to be an ancient devil cult bent on wiping out the gypsies. Bernhardt is so bad one can't begin to identify with him or even hope he succeeds. The rest of the cast is also bad, but it's Bernhardt who as the hero must bear the brunt of the acting catastrophe. The special effects are below average, surprisingly so, as many of these straight to DVD films have at least passable fx (e.g. PTERODACTYL). Only for fans of cheesy horror or action flicks.

1.0 out of 5 stars A terrible Tornado movie, but funny!, June 20, 2007
This review is from: Tornado (DVD)
As someone who grew up in Kansas (the heart of "Tornado Alley"), I thought this movie was stupid, had poor acting and a poor plot. --I just HAD to buy it!!!!!!

Gee, when was the last time that you saw a tornado with a human face that peers in windows? Did you ever see anyone be blown around in a tornado that did not get covered with mud, glass and be copped up with debris? The houses that are hit by the tornado are destroyed, but clean! This movie is Hollywood, not doing research, at its worse!

A future cult-classic for mid-america!!!
