After 9 years, my Toro two cycle snow blower gave up the ghost. It refused to start, I killed the electric start, and it now leaks fuel at the fuel bowl. It worked hard in nasty Chicago winters for 9 years and it was time to retire the poor thing.

This is one beast of a snow blower. 21 inches is a nice wide swath, without being horribly heavy. I am so happy to be finished with mixing oil and gas - this is a four cycle, gasoline only snow blower. Simple to maintain, just like a lawn mower, and it doesn't stink to high heaven when it runs.

The essential thing with this, it will power through just about anything and it throws snow FAR. I was able to break through crusted over plow rubble at the end of my driveway. My old snow blower would have done the job, but it would have complained the whole time. This ripped through a good two foot high mound of nastiness, ice on top, snow in the middle and slush on the bottom. Powder, it manages to throw the snow a good twenty, maybe thirty feet. I have a very long driveway, where roughly 60 feet has to be blown all the way to the end of the driveway. The driveway is between two houses and there is no place to put the snow between our houses. I am able to easily throw the snow toward the rear and the front from the middle of my house.

December 1, 2014 Update: Start of a new snow season, the end of season preparation paid off big time - the snow blower started with exactly one pull this year. I learned something else - find gas stations that have Ethanol Free gasoline. There is a website that lists stations around the country. Use Google to find ethanol free gasoline - there is a dot org site that has a map. You should still use stabilizer - but no ethanol is the way to go.

My wife bought me this after I had heart surgery, she just wanted me to walk behind it and have the snowblower do everything without strain on me. This is almost too much, the power is amazing, starts every time with electric start, no mixing oil in, and snow, slush and most anything else is cleared out. the hard slush the plows put at the end of the driveway are always the worst [and of course come through right after you've cleared it] is also cleared easy. The thing to be careful of are big chunks of solid ice, no snowblower blades are going to cut through, the snowblower will hit it and bounce, sometimes pretty high and have quite a kick, just get these out of the way,off to the side till they start to melt, remember ice sunk the Titanic, and its not going to give in to to any snowblower. Except for those huge solid ice blocks, this snowblower will do the job, without any problem. Its made by Toro, parts are easy to get, and it has a warranty, It really is the homeowners ultimate snowblower.

The Q in a Toro model description means that it has a Quick Redirect - a slide on the right-hand handle that rotates the output chute very quickly and painlessly. You can actually be sliding this to rotate the chute more to the side WHILE you are approaching a corner or a driveway.

It is absolutely amazing how much difference this makes in the whole process.

Others have said nice things, true things about this Toro. But the revolution is the Q.
