5.0 out of 5 stars Blowing power is great; haven't tried vac/mulching yet
After cutting our lawn, we'd always have grass clippings lying over our front porch, sidewalk, and driveway. I got so tired of always getting out there with a broom - which only cleared about half of the mess - that I decided to buy a blower. When I saw the difference in price between a blower and a blower/vac/mulcher was very little, I decided to give the Toro 51573 a...

I gave up trying to use the muclhing feature. The machine does not have enough power to effectively vacuum my large oak leaves leaves. However, It does work on small amounts of little and very dry leaves.

As an electric leaf blower, it operates as described. The convience of electric means trading messy gas motors for a cord that trails. It is more powerful than the price would suggest, yet it is not a proffessional grade blower.

The bottom line is that it is convienent for blowing leaves from decks and porches, and it can vacuum up 'easy' leaves in small areas like window wells.

After cutting our lawn, we'd always have grass clippings lying over our front porch, sidewalk, and driveway. I got so tired of always getting out there with a broom - which only cleared about half of the mess - that I decided to buy a blower. When I saw the difference in price between a blower and a blower/vac/mulcher was very little, I decided to give the Toro 51573 a try.

After cutting the lawn again, I was anxious to try out my new toy. The first time I turned it on I literally elevated on to my toes... That's how much power this thing has. It was so liberating to watch our grass leftovers be COMPLETELY cleared from every area in less than ten miutes. I also blew all of the little pebbles off of our driveway, and I plan on tackling all the dirt and debris that's found a resting spot on our garage floor. Of course, when using the blower you have to be careful where you aim. Once I accidently let the blowing stream get too close to my mulch and had to go patch that spot later - LOL.

I can actually say that I'm looking forward to fall when all the leaves drop so I can try out the vac/mulching capabilities. My father - who is near 60 - has two giant trees in his front yard and three in his back yard. Every year he has to rake around 30 bags of leaves, and I'd like to give him a break. After the Toro 51573 and I have a go at his yard later this year, I'll update my review with the results...

The toro rake and vac is a great product. I am disabled and have problems raking so many leaves in my yard, and then cleaning them up. This has helped so much because it shortens the time i need to be raking, then mulches the leaves down real great.

Bought it last Summer, works great for blow/vac leaves, etc. Used to blow the rocks out of my yard after a long winter season of sanding and salting. Worked great. Would certainly recommend. Has a lot of power for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding lawn vac, October 11, 2005

I use the Toro Rake & Vac primarily for vacuming leaves on the lawn and grass clippings on the walks and driveway. So far (after 3 uses) I find this product very helpful and a time saver. The zipper on the bag has not detached as had occurred on other vacs I had previously used.

It does the trick to clean up the leaves only thing in the way was the electical cord. It does come apart and you have to re-aatach which makes it annoying.

The Toro Rake and Vac 10.5 Amp Electric Blower/Vacuum #51573 is the answer to clearing away all the leaves that collect where they are the most difficult to remove - on, in, under and around shrubs, and on landscaping stone and mulch. Grass clippings, stray stones and any other of Mother Nature's unwanted debris are easily disposed of. I was surprised by how powerful the Toro is. What a time saver to use the Toro versus manually raking and sweeping! Great rake, vacuum and price is a winning combination in my book. We bought the Toro blower as a Christmas gift for our son-in-law. He thinks it's terrific. I am very satisfied with both the leaf blower and with Amazon. ~ The Boss

3.0 out of 5 stars Some drawbacks, January 3, 2007

I have no complaints related to the ability of the unit to vacuum up leaves but the tubing the projects downward towards the leaves was continually becoming loose and falling off. For a small scale operation I think this unit at this price is a good value but if you have large amounts of debris to vacuum I would have some reservations about using this model vac/blower.

4.0 out of 5 stars My appraisal of Toro Blower/Vac 10.5, January 27, 2007
This review is from: Toro Rake & Vac 10 Amp Electric Blower/Vacuum 51573 (Lawn & Patio)
I shopped around, evaluated and priced five (5) differant brands of leaf blowers. Idecided to settle on Toro Blower/Vac, 10.5. Upon receiving product and using it; I like it very much. It is easy to use, easy to handle and easy to change from blower to vacuum and back to blower. The complete process f purchase from AMAZON was convenient and satisfactory. I will go to AMAZON for future purchases.

If your lawn has a few dry leaves that need to be cleaned up, this works great. The mulching tool took a LONG time to use, but it was nice to use the leaves as winter mulch in the garden. When our trees dropped all of their leaves, and we used this tool, it wasn't so great. It wasn't meant to create huge mounds of leaves.
