5.0 out of 5 stars Best mower I ever owned
After owning 3 Lawn Boy's and Sears Craftsman mowers,I have to say that this is by far the best mower I have owned in years. My previous mower was/is a lawn boy 2 stroke. I liked it, but it was very smelly and frequently broken. Luckily, it was easy to repair. I just got tired of constantly having to fix something, so I did some research and decided on this unit. 5.0 out of 5 stars Best mower I ever owned, August 28, 2010
This review is from: Toro Super Recycler Self-Propelled Mower Briggs & Stratton 7 TP (21") #20092
The first time I used it I was expecting to have to empty the grass bag frequently as with my lawn boy, but it shredded the clipping so fine it seemed like the bag would never get full. I used to empty the bag on my lawn boy many times just doing the back yard, but with this machine I only had to empty it 2 times.
If your looking for a new mower, I would highly recommend any of the super recycler mowers.
They also come with a simple yet ingenious wash out connection. just connect a hose to the fitting, turn on the water, and start the motor. No more grass build up under the deck.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but definetley could use some improvement, April 24, 2011
This review is from: Toro Super Recycler Self-Propelled Mower Briggs & Stratton 7 TP (21") #20092
I have a small landscaping company, and have used many mowers over the years. I have to say this is a wet lawn bagging dream machine, but the bag falls off at any bump due to the fact the bag hanger only holds on by maybe a 1/4 of an inch on each side, no reason they couldn't have added an additional 1/4 inch of steel to seat the bag better. The wheels are set to far back to push the mower over any inclines or up stairs easily. It also seems to have resistance as you try to push it while it's not running. Over all this is the best mower I have found this year unfortunetly, but given a choice I'd take a 2008-2009 Lawnboy any day of the week hands down. I wish the mower companies would start testing their own products and quit getting rid of the winners only to replace them with inferior products.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wish I had this one back, September 7, 2011

If you think you might want a Honda or Toro mower, read this first. It may help. I've noticed a lot of grousing about Toro quality. Before I go on, I've just checked Consumer Reports reliability and Toro is the top rated for reliability. Number two is Honda and then pretty much everyone else. Toro and Honda are in a league of their own.

I had this very Toro model and I wish I had it back. I gave it to one of our daughters and her husband after they bought a house. Then I decided to try a Honda (model HRR216VXA). Well, I love the engine and that's where it ends. Instead of the Toro personal pace where you just go mow and not have to think about it becasue it just plain works, Honda uses a thumb paddle that is not so hot. Not that it's difficult to use, but you have to think about what speed you want all the time and your thumbs really get tired if you have a lot to mow. Plus if you have any type of carpal tunnel your hands will go numb. Ask me how I know.

The Honda also does not mulch nearly as well as the Toro SR. The grass has to be the perfect length with almost no humidity or it leaves clumps everywhere. Never had that problem with the Toro.

Another difference is that for roughly the same money, the Toro comes with an aluminum deck that will last forever unless it's abused or never cleaned. The Honda comes with stamped steel. The only way to get a better deck is to go with the Honda 217 HXA but now you're looking at a $700+ mower.

Also take note that if you don't go with AT LEAST the Honda 216 VXA the mower comes with very small wheels so if you have tall thick grass like bluegrass or similar, the deck can't be set high enough to compensate for the small wheels. The Toro has enough height range that this isn't a problem. One last gripe about the Honda. What ever you do, don't forget fuel stabilizer or it simply will refuse to start after sitting for any length of time. The only fix is a trip to your friendly Honda dealer for a carburetor cleaning and re-tune.

What is nice about the Honda? The engine is very quiet and smooth and people will pay way too much for a used one becasue it says Honda on it. The other nice thing is that at least for now, it has a manual choke. Most new mowers have automatic chokes becasue the government has over regulated the heck out of lawn mowers and they just don't work that well anymore.

My only gripe with the Toro was the Briggs engine ran with a miss and I believe it was due to being run too lean. I've seen other reports of the same.

So there you have it. Toro beats Honda for reliability but overall they are both good mowers. My advice is to not worry about relaibility between Toro and Honda just pick the one that has the best features for you and is most comfortable for you to use. Me, I'd take the Toro. While the Honda is assembled in North Carolina, the engine was made in Malaysia and with the Toro more of it is actually made in the US, unless you get the Super Bagger with the Honda engine. :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars Toro 20092 super recycler self propelled, June 23, 2011

JUST a terrible mower, i payed 360$ from a dealer after discounts. The first one i got wouldnt start half the time and would smoke alot,so i returned it.I exchanged it for another because i though i had a lemon.Well with my new one i started haveing problems with the rear wheels locking up when pulling back on it so i took it to the dealer and they adjusted the personal pace. Then last week both of my rear tires got flat spots in them so i took it back again and they took a whole week to put 2 tires on it.So now this week the tires got flat spots in them again so back to the dealer i go this week ! also the motor miss fires half of the time makeing a popping noise out of the muffler and they said that its just the design of it and to bad.Im going to get rid of it after they replace the tires and probly buy a honda or a sears craftsman professional.I REALY REALY REALY wanted to love this mower, its soooooo light and mulches grass like a dream. But toro has just lost their quality in the past 5 years.

1.0 out of 5 stars absolute piece of junk!, May 17, 2012
This review is from: Toro Super Recycler Self-Propelled Mower Briggs & Stratton 7 TP (21") #20092
I've had this mower for 1.5 years and am hoping that Home Depot, Toro, and the local certified Toro repair shop, start backing up their product. The self propel jams up and stops working, the mower clogs up and stalls about 10 times during every mowing session in my yard. It will clog up regardless if you do the mulching option, the side grass shute option, as well as even the bagging option. Home Depot does not back up this product and have forward me to Toro. Toro does not support their product and have forward me to the local Toro repair shop that is apparently rated #1. This shop has emailed me and said that rarely does the Toro warranty back up their products. I am extremely frustrated and find that I'm the only person on the planet that is raking up glass clippings on a mowed lawn, or else my yard will look like a hay field. I plan to create a youtube video in the near future, reviewing this horrible product.

5.0 out of 5 stars overpriced?, August 19, 2011
This review is from: Toro Super Recycler Self-Propelled Mower Briggs & Stratton 7 TP (21") #20092
Consumer Reports rates it 2nd after a much more expensive Honda, but why pay $99.99 MORE than List Price?? makes NO sense whatsoever.
Keep looking, someone must have this on sale as we near the end of Summer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Toro is junk, August 19, 2011
This review is from: Toro Super Recycler Self-Propelled Mower Briggs & Stratton 7 TP (21") #20092
I bought this mower and the engine ran great for about 5 months. Now I cant keep it working its in and out of repair shop. The entire mower is a piece of crap! If your grass is the slightest bit wet will jam up and not fill the bag. The mower pumps grass into the battery compartment. Oh yes that electric start lasted about 6 weeks! Toro what happened to you? I also bought a toro weed eater and that is a piece of junk also. What ever you do save your money and stay away from Toro.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toro Super Recycler 20092, May 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Toro Super Recycler Self-Propelled Mower Briggs & Stratton 7 TP (21") #20092
This mower performed very well the first time out even though the conditions were not perfect. The clean-out feature is truly an asset for clearing debris under the mower deck. Although the mower was originally received in a damaged condition (not sure if it was defective prior to shipment or damaged during shipment) the company accepted a return and shipped a replacement.
