5.0 out of 5 stars Toronto certainly did rock
I was thrilled to be in Toronto (T.O.) to attend this concert last year. I am currently at home watching the DVD of the same. Man, it is amazing to relive this. Tea Party playing right now.

The only complaint so far that I can come up with is that the two main headliners (AC/DC & Rolling Stones) have limited performances - I mean only two songs from AC/DC and six...

3.0 out of 5 stars More Footage!!
love some of the bands.. My fave, The Tea Party only had 3 songs, but in their last song, "Sister Awake", they had the crowd going just as hard as any of the main bands. They got a huge ovation. RIP Tea Party

4.0 out of 5 stars PRETTY COOL CONCERT FILM! STONES, RUSH & MORE!, June 29, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Toronto Rocks (DVD)
I bought this DVD set for the Rolling Stones and Rush footage, but found much more on this 2 disc set. It would have been nice to have the entire show, but I'm happy with it for the most part. It has many great acts and the sound is quite good. There are some cool extras on this set one small piece of film when Neil Peart is meeting Charlie Watts! Neil looks like he just met his idol! This set is worth picking up and if you look around you can find this 2 disc set pretty cheap....like I did. I paid $11.00 for a new sealed one! Not a bad deal at all!

4.0 out of 5 stars Toronto Rocks again and again, July 7, 2004

This review is from: Toronto Rocks (DVD)
Like the previous viewer, I was at the Toronto Rocks concert. The DVD does give a good feel of the event to people who weren't there, but it could have been made even better by including such things as Randy Bachman's impromptu performance of "Takin' Care of Business" in the middle of the Guess Who set, one of the big surprises of the day. And more Stones and AC/DC would've been great as well. But until they decide to put out the complete concert, rock DVD doesn't get much better than this!

I was thrilled to be in Toronto (T.O.) to attend this concert last year. I am currently at home watching the DVD of the same. Man, it is amazing to relive this. Tea Party playing right now.

The only complaint so far that I can come up with is that the two main headliners (AC/DC & Rolling Stones) have limited performances - I mean only two songs from AC/DC and six from the Stones, but they are infact extemely worthwhile.

For those who were there or heard about it,the exposure that the remaining 12 bands (8½ Canadian, 3½ American) had through this is something else. Typically each supporting act got the chance to perform three, maybe four songs. Almost of those are presented completely. The only one missing from the days events was the DJ (sorry, can't remember his name) who provided two intermissions worth of entertainment for the crowd that day and who was amazing to listen to.

Overall a very solid DVD of the days events. Happy I picked it up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Greatest day ever, July 6, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Toronto Rocks (DVD)
I was there. Had to have it. It didn't do justice to actually being there, but it got the heart pumping, so it was pretty darn good.
What can one say? If you weren't there you don't get it. It's awesome. Greatest day, ever.

This is the day I have been waiting for. 1 year ago. I was at the biggest concert in history. 500,000 people came to Downsview park in my hometown of Toronto and witnessed the most awesome performances by the biggest names in rock and roll.

The Flaming Lips, The Isley Brothers, Rush, The Guess Who, ACDC and of course The Rolling Stones. This dvd is the greatest and the proceeds go to help those who suffered at the hands of SARS. Toronto, Canada and the rest of the World.

TORONTO ROCKS!! HELL YEAH.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very dumb move to not release the 1st disc outside of Canada, November 9, 2004
By
This review is from: Toronto Rocks (DVD)
I don't understand this. From day one, I thought this was a very dumb move. I don't understand why they couldn't have just released the double CD set outside of Canada, too. I don't see how that could have hurt the sales, in any way. Anyway, it does seem like it was done that way - because they figured that non-Canadians are, somehow, not capable of liking Canadian music. Why did they do it like this? What purpose does it serve? Do these people think that non-Canadians are somehow unworthy of listening to the Canadian acts that are barely known outside of Canada?

3.0 out of 5 stars Great music, Great sound ...too short though, August 5, 2004

This is a great DVD. The sound and picture quality are top notch. Also, the music featured in these two discs is spectacular. If I was completely objective, I would have rated this item 5 stars ...but i'm not since I was one of 490,000 who attended this concert.
My criticism of this DVD does not concern what they put in, but rather what has been left out. This DVD only contains the abridged version of the Toronto Rocks ("SarsStock") concert.
Pretty much everyone's set (except for the Rolling Stone's set) has been truncated. Only two songs from AC/DC's set are featured here, which is very disappointing because they were by far the best band of the night (I'm not even an AC/DC fan, but they were just that good.)

So my recommendation is this, if you weren't there, you will be impressed by the quality of this DVD (the music itself and the sound and picture quality). If you were there, it would probably still be worth getting for nostalgia, and to be able to see some of the performances up close and with clearer sound, however you might be disappointed because this item contains only bits and pieces of the one of the best rock concerts in Canadian history.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where is the best of it?, July 1, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Toronto Rocks (DVD)
All in all it was a not bad video, though I was really expecting to see the best of the concert and more of it. Comeon AC/DC was given two songs plus the one they sang with The Rolling Stones. I just thought that it wouldn't have killed them to give us the whole concert. Come on Angus stripped to The Jack, got to be the best. I think they should have at least played all of AC/DCs songs and the Stones. I would have loved to see the rest too. Justin fighting off water bottles etc.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty decent, but lousy recording of AC/DC, October 16, 2004

First of all, there should have been a lot more of AC/DC on this DVD. By all accounts they were the best band of the night. All in all, the sound quality on the DVD is pretty good, I just have one question: WHAT KIND OF FOOL RECORDS A LIVE AC/DC PERFORMANCE AND MAKES ANGUS' GUITAR THE QUIETEST THING ON STAGE? You can't even hear Angus over the other instruments!
