A must have for bondage & erotica fan, very creative, May 2, 2000
This review is from: Torquere (Paperback)
This book is absolutely fabulous, filled with bondage, erotica and torture of all kinds. Sorayama's ability to capture the erotic essence of a female is astonishing. His attention to detail and creativity left me in awe. The all new artwork is bold, containing very explicit images. Most of the images are on one page. The pictures are often quite bizarre. Some themes include piercing, cowgirls, urination, and women in metal or with medical implements. Sadomasochism is very prevalent and most women are shown submissive. Many are in very extreme bondage. However, some women are in leather and hold whips or weapons, playing a more dominant role. My favorite image is a woman with zebra stripes shown in two positions. Other favorites include a woman hung inches from a circle of barbed wire, a bleeding mermaid, a harem girl and an angel with a devil tail.

Sorayama embraces the dark side, November 15, 2011
This review is from: Torquere (Paperback)
...well, what can be said about the work of the legend, Hajime Sorayama? ...superlatives often seem inadequate when viewing his art, for the simple reason that illustration of this detailed accuracy is difficult to imagine, even in this world of computer-aided drawing and design...some of the subject matter, as evidenced by the title Torquere, which means Torture, touches on the darker and more fantasy\ritual side of sensuality where restraint and control switch not only places, but personas...depictions of bound subjects and the devices employed may be uncomfortable viewing to some, but these images comprise a fairly small percentage of the collection, and don't define the volume...the balance of images presented are often graphic and explicit, but not gratuitous nor demeaning, and the art speaks for itself...

Sorayama's Best and Kinkiest Work, April 6, 2011
This review is from: Torquere (Paperback)
I love Sorayama. I have loved his work since I first saw it, and have waited eagerly for each new book. I have seen his works on gallery walls, (which is the way to study any artist's work.) But that's not always possible. This and the other books of this format reveal the images in such a manner that only a gallery show could better.
If you love beautiful figurative painting of nude women - and these are NOT Pin-Ups, but figuartive works with a very fetishistic bent, you're gonna' love this book. I love his style, his attaetion to detail and his courage in putting his kinkiest ideas into the world. These books - and this one in particular are the most exciting work I have seen since I discovered the work of John Willie.
Sorayama's work is utterly realistic, and not for the faint of heart, but it is utterly rewarding. I guarantee that it can change the way you see surfaces, from metal to flesh. Take a chance and order this book. It could change your life.
